It's also different because in both scenes they are in the same space with no obstacles between them for the first time in the movie and Asuka is accusing Shinji for mostly petty reasons: "you lost a chance to pilot the Eva" / "you didn't come to help me".

That might be the most significant touchstone of all for how slow this forum has gotten in the years since 3.0's release.

It's not unexpected. There's really nothing happening in the Eva world since Q and forums are "dying" on the internet in favour of places like Facebook groups, Twitter or Reddit.

I forget, wasn't there an "Asuka Festival" on twitter time time last year? (I seem to have a picture dated "2016 06 10", which I assume is "YYYY DD MM".) I was saddened to have missed it in real time last year, and cannot find evidence of it repeating this year.

It's not that good as a story: it's more of a bunch of sort of good ideas bundled with some rearrangments of scenes from NGE, Death, EoE and 2.0 than a real narrative.
It's a what if scenario in which episode 25' happened but without HIP and everything that followed. Shinji is still depressed and a total loner, Asuka is the same as always but with Misato's sex need and they try their best to live in a post-Eva world that doesn't need them.
Apparently Rei and Shinji had sex once and Shinji saw it as a big mistake.

You're overthinking it. The artist simply wanted to depict a fight between Evangelions and Shin Godzilla.

If making a piece of art where an Eva gets damaged means that the artist hates the person who's soul is in the Eva, then Hideaki Anno must hate Rei-I and Yui, and absolutely despise Kyoko.

Personally I believe the intended recipient of the hate might have been said unit's designated pilot.

I'm kinda torn because on the other hand it looks cool.

Yeah but the Evangelion's have it sort of easy in a way all they have to do is aim for the core crack it once its cracked angels dies but Shin Godzilla has no core there soft point for hit the boss level monster here because like them he can take the pain and given time he can regenerate and change to suit what he's up against.

So I could envision the first battle being a huge failure possibly followed by a second one where they start throwing godly Eva power's around and make a real dent and force Shin in to retreat. Plus I like the idea of the second image because it sets up the idea that Evangelion's are not impenetrable and that includes 01 which could get it's ass really kicked just like 02 does in the series but come back even harder.

I could imagine that the second battle would be something like OPERATION: Yashiori, but even more effective and less costly due to the involvement of Evas.

In a normal Eva battle, Shin Godzilla would smash the Evas. Angels are only invulnerable to conventional weapons due to their AT field, while Godzilla doesn't need one - it's skin is just near impenetrable. And the part that can be penetrated has radar-guided atomic beams coming out of it.

That said, the Positron Rifle could be very effective against Shin Godzilla, but it's hard to tell, as it was never attacked with directed energy weapons.

Something else to consider is what would happen if Unit 01 went beserk against Shin Godzilla. In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if a berserking 01 managed to seriously injure, or perhaps even kill, Godzilla through brute force alone.

Have the folks who do Death Battle been told about this? It might make for an interesting episode.
