What would you say the chances are of the box set seen here to get a western release?

A fairly good chance in the end, I'd say; but there might be a considerable wait owing to problems sorting out any residual rights to the former releases of the series and the films to different licensees, and the corresponding different ownerships of the subs and dubs.

That's only my guess, though! Nothing (to my knowledge) has been heard - other than the strange brief resurgence of the ADV site...

Brief? *checks website* No, the website is still up, and the numbers are still blinking randomly. And meaninglessly... And sadly... into nothingness and obscurity.

NGE will get an eventual Blu-ray release stateside. (If I were a betting man I'd put it down for second half of 2017)

BUT, I wouldn't hold out for anything as all-inclusive as the Japanese release. That included all 26 episodes of the show, all the multiple versions of the film & several discs worth of extras. It's a lot of stuff to work through & a lot of it repeating material - spot the minute tiny differences between this version of End Of Evangelion and THIS version of End of Evangelion - that won't hold interest for the casual fan.

My best bet is the US Release will feature the 26 episodes, the Director's Cut episodes, Death & Rebirth, End of Evangelion & maybe one other version of the final films with a few special features.
Honestly, with the English release I'm more interested to see if Funimation - like anyone else is getting it - will do a whole new English recording of the TV show & films so they align better with the Rebuild features. It's not like NGE has an English dub as universally loved as Cowboy Bebop.

I wouldn't mind getting an entire set of honorary Khara subtitles done by Dan Kanemitsu...

I'm expecting all of these to be spread across different releases. I can see them releasing the TV series in one giant box set, but separating the theatrical films into its own separate disc release.

I wish that was what the Japanese release did. I might have gotten the films if they did that.

I wouldn't be surprised if individual disc releases eventually do happen in Japan. When they did the Renewal DVD release, it was box set first, and separate discs after.

Sorry, for bumping this thread, but I felt like it was the best place to post this.
So I've finally watched the Blu Rays on my Beamer, and I've noticed that some Episodes feature heavy left to right wiggling and distorted colors.
Compared to my archives box which looks comparatively ely great on my beamer.
This is all played on a PS4.

What's a Beamer?....

I've played them on both a Gen 1 PS4 and a Samsung BD-J5100/ZA Blu-ray Player. The TVs on which I've played them were various Samsung, LG, and Philips TVs, but they've all been calibrated using the Spears & Munsil High Definition Benchmark Blu-ray, Second Edition, so there isn't a great inconsistency between the TVs. The colors look fine to me (though Philips TVs consistently never really had good looking reds to begin with), but I think I know what you're talking bout the it comes to the left-to-right "wiggle." The image does that every time the film itself cuts from one shot to another. It has something to do with the process of editing the film and how Gainax was never really the best at mastering that kind of technology. Remastering it arguably could have been easy, as the frame-rate of the animation isn't so fast or fluid that they couldn't simply repeat the second-to-last from on the previous shot and the second frame of the next shot to cover over the "wiggle" without any noticeable pauses in the animation or anything like that. (That form of restoration would only be noticeable on panning shots, but the movement of the visuals in a panning shot should be enough to distract from the "wiggle" to begin with anyway.) But instead of doing that they just left it in.

I dunno. As a film junkie and as someone who enjoys as true of a representation of what the undamaged film would look like in its initial theatrical release, I can appreciate that quality of the Bluray release.

Whoops. I meant a projector. It's called Beamer in German, lol. We also say Handy to mobile phone... It's weird.

The projector makes a rather big picture, making inconsistencies very noticeable. The wiggle is there between cuts for sure, but in some Episodes the picture is wiggling throughout. (I think Episode 22 was especially bad, the stuff from the extended cut was ok, though. But I'd have to check to be sure). Other Episodes were fine, though. Since the picture is projected on a space that's like 3 Meters diagonally, the wiggling is really jarring.
On the Archives they have a weird dark slant to it. Like Dezaki or Rintaro movies from the 90s. Kinda dark, but the colors pop more than on the Blu-Rays where they look comparatively brighter, washed-out, over-exposed.
(the color issue is nothing that bothers me too much, though)

As my PS4 is my only Blu-Ray Player, is there any way to get subs on that, or would I have to take a detour over a Computer? And is there a comprehensive file, that subtitles all of the Blu-Ray release including the bonus material?

Sephirotic has published his sub files (in several languages) for the series (DC only for those episodes) and films (with contributions from me :) ). You can download them here.

I am not aware of any subs for the features.

The colors might be solved via calibration, though I've never calibrated projectors, so I don't know if the same resources can be used to complete the task. And I've honestly never watched the entire TV series all the way through on Blu-ray, just the features. So I can't speak of the wiggling there. Ep 22 might be a fun place to start, just to see what it is you're talking about.
