FML general thread [8]

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Got locked out of my fucking apartment in the rain, without a phone. (Barely stepped outside and the vestibule door closed on me. Not used to the damn thing being in "always locked from the outside" mode.) Missed my chance to ask a neighbor for help and got so depressed waiting for my boyfriend I started wondering if he was coming home at the usual time at all. Ended up just smashing my back door down. It was actually really easy, too, which is the alarming part. Guess I should've expected as much after seeing that Mythbusters episode, but, fuck, if I (a slovenly woman-beast) could break through in a minute or so, what's the point of having a lock at all?

I don't recall how many years it is you've been saying essentially this same thing, and doing nothing about your situation. There comes a point when the best advice has to be "shit, or get off the pot" (and, truth be told that point should have come twenty years ago).

Surprise Exam Time!

I thought I wouldn't need to make a single exam this semester but it turns out my grades in Museology were negative and now I need to go...
I hate exams. Not only do they make me have to travel to Évora to make them, but they also tend to be just regular tests with slightly higher difficulty. It's even more frustrating because I had to do a labor intensive work for this class and now it's just wasted effort. Unless the teacher takes it into account when rating the exams, but I find that unlikely.
At least I won't be alone. Over half of the class is joining me in this exam.

So question for everyone. I am currently writing the last few chapters of my book. I just had to kill off one of the characters but three quarters of the way through the chapter I began to feel sorry for her. What I was doing and what was happening. She ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Although her death is part of the plot I felt bad because I know all she was trying to do was help. I think the scene draws more attention because this final part of the story is heavily referencing the final scenes of end of evangelion. This particular death was the scene where Kom Suse Tod starts.

I feel genuinely bad having killed my character especially in doing this to her. Has anyone else felt this way about a character they have created?

Yes, definitely.

But then I remembered that Vonnegut was right.

The characters I create are usually made with their tragic end already in mind. But it is a sad process nonetheless.

I don't really feel bad about doing horrible things to my characters. The process of becoming or inhabiting the characters when it comes to actually writing the horrible things, though... That can be quite heart-wrenching.

Ray, you know it's called 3.0+1.0, right? And even if it were called 4.0, it wouldn't be 4.44 until the video release.

Doesn't matter, it STILL successfully Blue-balled me.

Edit: It was a JAY-Z album, even worse.
