Fuck that terrified me there for a moment, I thought Trump did something to piss off the Japanese so they wouldn't let us have anything anymore. I was all like " Oh you son of a bitch, if I can't ever see 4.0 because of you"...

No, it's just about importing Japanese anime releases to the U.S., which is something most people don't do anyway. The reason why we don't actually highlights a rather glaring flaw in the video's reasoning: Japanese imports are hella expensive, and that's before you deal with insane trans-Pacific shipping costs. There is literally no reason to get a Japanese release if a localization is available unless you're a die-hard collector (I'll shell out for Eva, for example, but precious little else), so the company's motives really are a head-scratcher. But this will have zero impact on streaming services and such, so there's nothing to worry about here.

Yeah, I watched the video, that was just the reaction I had just by reading Gaijin Goombah's title.

Reading around people's reactions a bit more, it seems to me that anime is only marginally affected - because most people outside Japan wait to buy a (cheaper) localised version. Those who appear to be most affected are the fans of J-Pop who want to buy CD albums which are not usually licensed abroad, and which require no localisation.

Presumably they can only enforce this through their supply contracts with Amazon, CD-Japan and the like. I don't expect that they could legally prevent a proxy shopper buying an item and then reselling and shipping it abroad.

I read a list of things Trump has done yesterday and the poster put in a bunch of joke entries mixed with real ones, like "Made One Direction the official band of the United States".

I though the anime thing was a joke...

Seems like, there were plans to make an American version of Gundam called Doozy Bots. There is a pilot. Pretty funny, if bewildering. Honestly, I'm not quite sure if this is real...? Anyways, TV is really something entirely different nowadays...

Ok, so this is SD Gundam. For a second, I thought they were trying to bring the original series over under the title Doozy Bots.

Edit: You can find more info here.

Eventually (a year or so later) a Vocaloid cover was indeed done, to complement the MikuMikuDance one (which seems to be part of a set of these things).

To clarify, it uses SD Gundam's designs. SD Gundam is actually a separate show.

Why I Don't Like Neon Genesis Evangelion by Aleczandxr

I like this video (though I don't agree with most of it), but I didn't think it warranted it's own thread. . . mods can feel free to do thread surgery if they like.
