For those of you that are concerned or confused, what is American Gods?

The original novel was written by Neil Gaiman. It's equal parts allegory and a journey of self discovery for the main character. It's equal parts Magical Realism, and a grim realistic fantasy novel. It's a discussion of what technically constitutes as a 'god' in today's world.

The plot centers around the main character Shadow recently released from prison, and his new boss a charismatic Virgin-obsessed Mr.Wednesday. Without getting into too many spoilers if you haven't read the book. The old gods are dying. Zues, Thor, Anansi, and some other ones you may not have heard of no longer have any power in today's modern, materialistic, and largely unbelieving world, and have been replaced with new gods. Like the internet, television, the automobile, and are traveling to the center of America for one last battle to secure their right to keep existing.

That's as broad as I can be without spoiling anything, I highly recommend you check the book out before watching the series.

Great book. I'll almost certainly watch this one.

I said and did some dumb and hurtful things in my time here when i was younger. If i ever hurt you, i'm sorry. If you see any of this while reading old threads, i'm learning and trying to improve. Donut redemption arc in progress.
