Re: What kind of movies do you like most?
For me, the general rule of thumb is staying power. The best films are the ones that remain in my consciousness and prompt me to revisit them again and again. Those that fade from memory immediately are all but worthless to me -- no matter how much I enjoyed them during the watching itself.
EDIT: I know I didn't really answer the question. I'm not really good at generalizing my own tastes.

I have a bias towards anything by Pixar.
Please just call me Ian, "TheFrisky" is more of a title.

I've always been a fan of historical drama (Jidaigeki, Westerns, costume dramas, etc.), film noir, and fantasy and science fiction. A good psychological drama or suspense film is always appreciated as well. My tastes are eclectic and I'd have a hard time choosing just one genre or kind of film if I had to choose.
In short, the kind of movies I like the most are good movies. Enlightening I know.

Low budget horror/gore flicks. Some of my all time favorites are Class of Nuke Em High, Street Trash, Basket Case, The Burning, From Beyond and Night of the Demons.

I dislike musicals.
Aside that, everything else is pretty much okay with me. Action films, comedies, horror films etc. As long as it has a good plot and most importantly a good pace (i hate fast paced movies) i can see anything.

Re: What kind of movies do you like most?
Most of what I like is all pre-2,000 stuff. Most movies made after the turn of the millennium haven't interested me. But to elaborate further, I like the following:
Comedy (as long as it isn't gross-out or asshole comedy, which seem to comprise most comedy films coming out these days in the US).
'80s and '90s action films (although I avoid modern action films like the plague).
Post-Magnificent Seven westerns (Magnificent Seven itself included, that was a great film. I'm not very fond of most westerns made before it, and I absolutely cannot stand black-and-white westerns or singing cowboys. I have a special fondness for Clint Eastwood's films and the Sabata series.)
Pre-CG Disney films (I was very disappointed back when I learned they weren't going to make any more hand-animated films).
Studio Ghibli films such as Princess Mononoke.
World War 2 films (particularly the unconventional ones such as Go For Broke, The Great Escape, and Kelly's Heroes).
And, of course, anything Evangelion.

I like movies that are good. Usually.

Re: What kind of movies do you like most?
hm, I like different kinds of movies. In these later days I like to watch detective movies (Sherlock of course, Memento, Seven, Fargo) and sometimes I watch some dumb comedies but rarely. I mostly watch an anime and not movies.Though I like disney movies about disney princess. I want to watch new Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson. Well, disney is really good universe, i like even disney games ( oh just about Belle http://thedisneyprincessgames.com/princess-belle-games ) . Stop me, I am talking too much
P.S. for me nothing is good enough except an anime ^__^

Re: What kind of movies do you like most?
It mostly falls into two categories with me:
1: Strong Balance of Character and Plot
Characters are for me, the #1 thing I look for when I embark on a piece of fiction. It's who has the strongest writing, acting, and overall devlopment. That, combined with the plot that's well-written ties in to the next category...
2: Investment and Staying Power
If a movie can keep me hooked for a good amount of time, then I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, even if the movie isn't that good.' However, sometimes the power can wear off. I remember watching Scream for the first time a few Halloweens ago, and it shot up to one of my favorite movies since I adored watching it. However, the thrill wore off, and I while I still love it, it's not one of my-all time favorites. If a movie can stay in my head long after I was invested in it, then it will most be great to me.
