Dang, it's hard to get an affordable DVD of the series. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN EVERY TIME?!

^:cringe: 31 pounds? no thanks. Better off dropping $57 with the first seller there; I order from him all the time. In fact he's selling it cheaper than what I paid for the same box back when it was still in print, and I got a deal back then.

Last time I checked the new sets on Amazon were going for around $90 so it's nice to see them back at a decent price.

$57 is cheap if you love the show, it's a boxset, and out of print.

yeah Tex ended up in the same boat as Lain & Haibane Renmei, but due to its less popular status I think the DVDs are generally easier to get a hold of. At least it seems that way, since even the $90 the box had been going for was less than anything I'd seen for the box sets of HR or SEL.

And yeah, $57 is a fantastic price for the product. I think paid ~$60-$70 for it at the time--I know it was under $100.

I tried getting past the third episode three different times, even with the great concept and it's visuals, to me, it's a chore to get through. I really want to get into this, 'cause I still have a few more attempts with me.

It's definitely not particularly fun to watch... But it's very good at being not fun to watch.

I get that, and in many cases, I like things that can be tough to watch. Always up for a challenge. But the way it's formatted just puts me off.

I'm sorry for reviving this thread, but I have to get some thoughts I have about the show off my chest

Spoilers ahead:

SPOILER: Show
I was listening to the soundtrack for this show and gazing at the different reactions the ending brings out of people and I finally came to a conclusion. I had this feeling since I first finished the show I don't know how many years ago but now I'm certain. Hell maybe I already posted this somewhere long ago, but here it his: Texhnolyze shows hope in the ending.

In the surface, people are barely human, below, nearly all people have perished or have been transformed into something that is no longer human. In this misery, Ichise keeps walking until he no longer can. In his final moment, he smiles. Some have interpreted this smile has happiness from being released from living, but I think the song that plays says otherwise. He wants to live, his smile his like a silent scream at the world and its absurdity that reaffirms that will to live. As the city in which he lived dies, his determination to keep living shows that even in the impossibly bleak dystopia Texhnolyze presents us, the human spirit, the beastly drive to push on still lives.

I don't remember if the anime says Ichise is the last person alive or if there are a couple of other survivors still in the city, but it doesn't really matter, even if his death represents the death of the human race, it is a beautiful ending in which he retains his humanity.

I'm sorry for this messy stream of thoughts. I'm sure there are others that have said what I just did in a much clearer manner, but I just needed to get these thoughts out of my system.
