Anti Angel Defence Force NERV

TLDR: Eva but Action Arc all the way through with added silliness and a few canon immigrants.

Based largely on the TV version, with elements of other series sprinkled in for flavor. It starts fairly normally, with Shinji getting summoned to Tokyo-3 to get in the robot and all that jazz. The thing runs very similarly to the actual show (albeit far less grim) until Asuka's introduction. Then, things go completely off the wall...

The fic would have somewhat more of a hardware focus than the actual show (if that's even possible) with all kinds of gimmicky weapons, equipment and things, both as a homage to old toy-selling anime, and because silly weapons are fun to write. This goes completely up to 11 after the Bardiel episode (in which Unit 03 is not destroyed and goes on to become Touji's Eva, although Touji does lose his leg in the process) and after that, rather than getting the descent arc, the fic abandons all pretenses of sticking to canon- extracanonical Angels appear, Kensuke and Hikari become pilots, and the Evas go into SPAAAAAAACE.

Notable features/shitty gimmicks will include...

>After losing his leg, Touji gets a badass robotic replacement. In addition, the repaired Unit 03 incorporates the remains of Bardiel as a secondary core, enabling the use of "Berserker Drive"- essentially a Beast Mode, in which Unit 03 sprouts extra arms and generally goes mental, giving increased fighting capacity at some risk to the pilot.
>After Zeruel (who shows up after some other "filler" Angels) the cast goes into space, except without the timeskip and everyone becoming an OOC dick this time.
>Mari shows up in the SPACE arc, piloting Space Type Evangelion Unit 08.
>Kaworu doesn't die after his initial appearance and goes on to pilot the Mark 06, becoming a recurring rival for Shinji.
>Kensuke pilots Defence Type Evangelion Unit 04 (which is recovered from NERV Nevada during a daring rescue mission in the depths of the Dirac Sea).
>Hikari pilots High Mobility Type Evangelion Unit 05 (which is basically Rebuild's Unit 05 run through a TV filter).
>Unit 07 actually appears this time, piloted by NERV's most dangerous enemy yet...Shinji's abhorrent admirer Mana Kirishima.
>Everyone ends up paired up with someone. Because everybody needs somebody, after all.
