Finally got around to seeing this. (Discovering the perks of my boyfriend's cable package, I am.) My eyes were glued to the screen from start to finish -- and felt positively fatigued afterward! This was a blast. Masterful. So much to take in that I'll definitely be watching it again sometime. Finally check out the beginnings of the franchise, too, while I'm at it.

Really wish I'd been paying more attention back when and seen this in the theater. Such a missed opportunity.

I don't normally care for the Nostalgia Critic, but he and his brother offered the following review on Fury Road that I thought was fairly well-reasoned:

I like NC's brother a hell of a lot more than NC himself.

Okay, I have to ask: Is it that good of a movie, or is it all hype?

This is the exception that proves the rule. This is the movie where you actually CAN believe the hype.

However, if there is one thing I can critique it's that seeing it on a small screen and not in the theater may affect your perception of it somewhat. This is a movie that NEEDS to be seen with a big screen and surround sound, or else you're not watching the same movie

The hype doesn't begin to do it justice. It's truly an amazing movie, and it's one of the few cases where the 3D version is actually really, really good.

As I noted, I wish I had seen it in theaters, but it was still incredible on the small screen. I don't believe what Ray implies about it being a different film; that's just silly, of course it's the same film.

It is literally the same physical film but if you don't watch it on a big screen with uplift sound it is a different experience entirely.

Mad Max: Fury Road is pure magic. The hype is deserved. And then some.

I shudder at the angry fan onslaught that will happen if George Miller ever does make a Mad Max 5 and it's ONLY amazing.

Fury Road was alright. The Road Warrior is the true masterpiece of the Mad Max franchise. Tom Hardy has nothing on Mel Gibson as the title character.

Perhaps, but they can be ill-informed and based on faulty notions. It's very easy to articulate reasons why Fury Road is technically superior, for example, to say nothing of the performances delivered by Theron and Hardy. Whether it's performances, color, cinematography, or even just the novelty of its presentation, Fury Road delivers on every level. That might be a matter of opinion, but it's an opinion that's nigh-universal (to the point where you'd need to articulate a hell of a counterargument to make a case for the alternative -- good luck with that).

For instance, Godfather III is my favorite of The Godfather films, but I also know that Godfather 2 is the better film in every way. You might like The Road Warrior more, but Fury Road is arguably the better film. George Miller was still experimenting with what he could do as a filmmaker, and this recent film is all of his experience, knowledge, and craft combined.
Though, Gob still might look good in a cocktail dress.

So. . . not being able to get it a real release in China. A Chinese company made a ripoff movie of Mad Max.

Not Mad Max. Mad Shelia. That’s the title, and presumably main character, of a pretty obvious Mad Max ripoff film out of China. We don’t know much about it, except that the budget looks closer to George Miller’s original Mad Max than his more recent entry in the series, Mad Max: Fury Road. But the trailer shares the batshit passion of those films, and then some. Check it out.

Watched it recently.

Really, really liked it.

To me it's a 2 hour, pumped up, freaking V8 version of the desert chase of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, plus totty on tap like I hadn't seen since Suckerpunch.

I loved the mysticism in it and the corroded use of the language.

It also looks like nothing else I've ever seen before.

And now - in Black and White!

http://uppcinema.com/film/mad-max-fury-road-black-chrome

Director George Miller always wanted his 2015 gonzo revival of the franchise to be in black and white – and now it is.
