The 2009 version, that guitar solo followed by that omnious drumbeat and high pitched chant. EPIC!

Animetal's version is pretty good, but the original will always be my favorite.

I heard the original version of the song many years before I actually watched Eva. However even if i had no desire to watch the anime for a long time, I had already placed the original version in my "Best Anime OPs of All Time" list.

I've heard many other versions thanks to this thread and the glories of YouTube but the original is probably always going to be best for me. I like "Rei's" version a lot though.

Excellent version on acoustic guitar:

Who wrote the music for Komm Sußer Todd?

I apologize if this information is already on this website and I couldn't find it. The wiki page states that Hideaki Anno wrote the original lyrics, and mentions the person who adapted it into English, but I'm trying to figure out who wrote the actual music for the track. If anyone happens to know please let me know. I also apologize if this should be in another section.
I know people have compared the song to Hey Jude before, but I only recently noticed that about 5 minutes, 40 seconds in, the refrain from Hey Jude(Beatles), almost exactly, starts playing. I'm also curious if whoever was responsible for this was also involved in the Megumi Hayashibara version of Cruel Angel's Thesis on the Birthday of Rei Ayanami album, as that also features a riff that sounds nearly identical to the one from Day Tripper(also Beatles).

tl;dr does anyone know a) who wrote the music(not the lyrics) for Komm Sußer Todd, b) did this person/any of these people also work on the Ayanami version of the Theme Song, and c) did this person/people ever admit or mention being a fan of the Beatles?

KST was written by Shiro Sagisu, composer of almost all of NGE's original music.

Thank you. I knew he wrote the background music, but I wasn't sure if KST was also his, as it seemed like it may have been later and... whatever thanks anyway.
Do you happen to know if he was also involved in the production of the Ayanami version of Thesis? Or whomever was involved in particular with the guitar part of it?

There are pretty comprehensive listings of the music on Wikipedia.

Sagisu was in charge of the music, so he was involved in all of it.

Not actually true. Within the original show, he did not, for instance, have anything to do with the opening and ending themes. (Arranged instrumental versions of them for use as BGM, but that's it.)

Questions/Thoughts About Official Eva Music

Right after the end of the first verse, there is a chorus. I can't really find anything on it in terms of translated lyrics, not even on the page.

This "chorus" was also used in the rare 70's remix (which has a Western tone going for it, might I add).

What is being said?

There is this kick-ass (Though not as kick-ass as the Japanese version) version sung in English with a montage of pretty much the entire events in the series.

@OP: I'm fairly certain the bridge is comprised of lyrical nonsense. Use of genuine-sounding gibberish is fairly common in Japanese soundtrack productions, to the point I'm never surprised to hear another example of it. Can't get far in either Yoko Kanno or Yuki Kajiura's discographies without bumping into the practice.

The video here is actually from the 01 test type dvd, just with an english cover of the song, and text screens replaced to be in english. Here's the original: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WgMnSxNhjOA

It's been blocked in my country. It was done by a guy called "Ichiro Kageyama".

The bridge lyrics occur at 1:47 in the video. You say they're just jibberish?
