Why are they so praised just because they're badasses? Why the characters that aren't badass are such hated?

Maybe because most of the audience secretly perceives themselves as badasses, who could (uh-oh) make the world shake, if they were only given a fair chance from fate? Maybe because most of the audience hates to be confronted with reality, how ridiculous such thinking is and how miserable are common people such as them?

Whatever is the reason, personally I always liked flawed characters, cause I'm well aware that I'm flawed being myself and so it's easier for me to sympathise with such antiheroes.

I'd say this is just the inverse expression of the "Why do people hate Shinji" question, which has its own thread somewhere.
"Being human, having your health; that's what's important." (from: Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi )
"As long as we're all living, and as long as we're all having fun, that should do it, right?" (from: The Eccentric Family )

It is not just for Shinji,is for all the flawed characters who can'take lift the universe with their index finger and throw into a black hole while screaming "Za Warddddddooooo! "and some chicks kiss is their genitalia without being bashed by the media.

It's called "natural selection". It's been around for a while :P

"Badass" does is not only restricted to beating people with martial arts or piloting super machines etc...

It can also refer to inteligence, quick wit and general ability to solve an apparently overwhelming troubles one way or another.

Badassness is pretty much ability to prevail while maintaining dignity. Both of those qualities are attractive to either gender and are often desirable in a partner.

Badassness is what allowed people to survive and progress, depending on era and situation, it was either by brain or by brawn.

Also returning to original question, It's not true that "non-badass" characers are automatically hated. There are othe reasons for that.

Viewers in all mediums generally identify with the "most badass" character in a wish fulfillment way because that's who they want to be in life. Like most entertainment it's just another form of escapism & that's perfectly fine in the two hours of a movie or TV show. It's when people take that into the real world problems start arising.
