I like being trapped! (I also have the recent English book publication of Kizumonogatari on my shelf.)

Has Monogatari been localized? :cringe: Heaven help those translators as Nisio Isin seems to really know how to manipulate the Japanese language.

Not all Monogatari's are created equal.

Some are truly compelling stories about people going through drastic changes in their life that are truly relatable for the viewer whether they've been a go getter adventurer or a closeted shut in.

While some are just about how a teenager wants to molest an underage schoolgirl or feel up absolutely boring vampire who is sexualized to an unhealthy degree while she's masquerading as a prepubescent child.

All Monogataris are good. Even Katanagatari.

(Especially Katanagatari.)

But seriously, even the weaker cycles have something to offer to the larger plot that Nisio Isin is weaving with the series.
"The will to lose one's will?"
"Absolutely. The will to make oneself completely free. Will is the wrong word, because in the end you could call it despair. Because it really comes out of an absolute feeling of it's impossible to do these things, so I might as well just do anything. And out of this anything, one sees what happens."--Francis Bacon

I love Monogatari, (yes, even the gross bits - because they are hilarious to me). I can't stand Katanagatari, though. Haven't managed to watch more than 4 Minutes.

SAO is a complete trash.
The rebuilds are bad movies.
Most horror animes are completely bland and downright terrible.
Gunbuster & Diebuster are extremely overrated and are downright bad.
Mecha animes besides Eva, Gundam, and Zegapain are pretty terrible.
Elfen Lied and Miria Nikki are utter garbage.
Fanservice is okay.
Sailor Moon sucks.
Magical Girl animes are usually complete garbage.
DBZ still holds up as a decently good show.

I deeply agree with everything you said and here's my unpopular opinions:
Goku is a shit protagonist.
Raxphenon is a script-by-script copy of Evangelion but it falls at the execution and is garbage.
Princess tutu 10000x>Madoka Magica.
Fate/ series is meh.
Shonen anime are usually utter garbage.
Mars of Destructions isn't that bad.
Tokyo ghoul is shit.
Code Geass is shit.
And
Cowboy Bebop is boring.
Asuka Langley Soryu is our Lord and Saviour.

These are factually incorrect, as in not a matter of opinion at all.

Princess tutu 10000x>Madoka Magica.
Code Geass is shit.

These are not controversial.

The rest are actual opinions, so fine.

Anyone who says that either of the "Bustser" OVAs are bad clearly hasn't gotten to my level of understanding the beauty of camp. (Heck, I still think that Adam West is the best live-action Batman ever.)

The trouble (with this thread, in many places) is that opinions are just that - there's no arguing with them. What helps make a discussion of interest is giving at least some reasons for thinking that way.

But I'll just remark that
Raxphenon is a script-by-script copy of Evangelion
is simply not true if you trouble to watch it.

If you bother to get involved in one of the long running Shonen series it might change your view. I.E I have been following One Piece for a while now, and I must say I enjoy it and it is the best selling Manga for a reason. While the later certainly isn't a Controversial anime opinion within the Anime community, it certainly is on Evageeks.

With Bebop I found the stuff between Spike and Vicious to be the most interesting and there were a few episodes that I found myself not really caring. It was mixed for me.

You just implied that either a) Patlabor doesn't exist or b) that Zegapain is better than Patlabor.

Why would you say these things.

I preferred Zegapain to Patlabor; but both were good.

I see Gurren Lagaan more as an over the top parody of Dumb Giant Robot Tv shows than anything else. That's not to say its bad, it's just not in the same category.

Patlabor is the only consistently "not-shitty to actually-really-good" fighting bot animu franchise I can think of.

Zegapain on the other hand I kind of switched off about halfway through the first episode when Spikehair McBlandtagonist got angrily chased by the matrix through his kitchen, because there is nothing that could possibly live up to that.

Nah. Regardless of what one thinks about Goku he's clearly an effective protagonist, since he resolves his stories and keeps the audience engaged even through the incredible tedium of the show's worst-paced episodes. And Cowboy Bebop is too varied to be boring; it's reasonable to dislike parts of it (or heck, even all of it), but calling it boring suggests a lack of action or development that simply isn't there.
