Now that the season is over, it's listed as S 5, Ep 15. Man, home video releases of these kinds of shows confuse me sometimes.

Really, all I can really think of are those conspiracy theorists who think old cartoons predicted 9/11.

Although it's fairly generic, this caught my eye as a possible reference to the posters for Evangelion 1.0 and 2.0:

It's from the OP of Erased.
"Being human, having your health; that's what's important." (from: Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi )
"As long as we're all living, and as long as we're all having fun, that should do it, right?" (from: The Eccentric Family )

Before 3.0+1.0 there was Afterwards... my post-Q Evangelion fanfic (discussion)

I was surprised to discover that this was not the only instance of a Popeye scene providing some foreshadowing of EoE. Basically, Olive Oyl's AT Field collapses (from about 5:40 to 6:05):

From Rurouni Kenshin, the armor of the character Fuji.

Certain volumes of the Manga have alluded that the creator, Nobuhiro Watsuki, cites Evangelion as his favorite anime.
"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11

"It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

"God is in his Heaven, and free men walk upon the Earth" - Rev. Robert Sirico, President of the Acton Institute

Avatar: The Last Airbender [Last episode] -> Aang vs Ozai
Neon Genesis Evangelion [Episode 19] -> Unit 01 (Shinji) vs Angel 14 (Zeruel)

1) Both trapped in small environment, sweaty, clenching teeth
ImageImage

2) Both trapped in a ball-like object, getting attacked several times by the enemy
ImageImage

3) The shit's about to get real moment; mystical ghost shit; godly intervention
ImageImage

4) And here the corrosponding face to that
ImageImage

5) Grabbing for the enemy; Unit 01 grabs the Angels "arm", Aang grabs Ozai's glorious beard
ImageImage

6) Enemy kicked away with unexpected power; Angel by foot, Ozai by airblow
ImageImage

7) And then there's this...

^The panda spirit Hei Bai from a season 1 episode was directly inspired by the Angels according to the commentary.
Someday I hope that we'll be reunited if that is what's destined to be. Perhaps we'll discover that elusive bible. And then we will finally be free!

@kim
Bryan and Mike have said that they are HUGE fans of Evangelion, so it makes sense they'd take a few key elements from it for their own Anime Universe.

It's probably a coincidence. But. . . .

Swiss Army Man?  SPOILER: Show
