Apparently, Disney is in the process of signing a contract with Nintendo to produce a series of movie based on its games: http://gonintendo.com/stories/252947-ru ... ing-up-for
What can we expect from this? Movies based on Legend of Zelda or Kirby? The Metroid movie finally getting made? Or--God forbid-- another live-action Super Mario Bros. movie?!
But seriously, what's your take on this news?

A few of the main titles might make decent animated movies. Metroid is one of the few I see working in live action.

It all depends on how intimate a relationship Disney and Nintendo decide to have. Right now it just looks like Nintendo is inking a deal with Disney to fund and produce movies based on Nintendo's IP*. That isn't too different from, say, what Paramount did with Hasbro to make the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies. Nintendo is very fussy about the image of its flagship characters--they wouldn't even let Mario appear in Wreck-it Ralph because there was no way to get his portrayal right. If the

*except Pokemon, which technically belongs to Game Freak.
