Studio Trigger's new anime is out today. Does anybody have thoughts to share about it yet? I'm about to watch episode one.

It's... a thing. Definitely a thing. Not really sure what else to say about it. The ED was cool though.

Well, it was certainly better than Ninja Kill. I wish the episodes were longer, but who knows, maybe this little thing will have some ambition after all.

Either way, :asuka_thumbsup:

Done with episode one. I was expecting a full 24-ish minute runtime, so that it was only 8 minutes or so caught me a bit off guard. That's not the only thing that caught me off guard, of course-- I don't really know what I was expecting going in, but it certainly wasn't SPL delivered to me. It feels kind of like a mash-up of Panty and Stocking with Inferno Cop, and I'm not sure how much I'm loving that right now. I'll keep watching future episodes since they're so short, but I really do hope that I start enjoying it more. If every episode is like this first one, it might get old pretty fast.

Episode 2 has totally got me on board.

Anime is looking pretty, pretty, pretty saved right now.

No, this would be moe Megatron (and her gal pals):

Luluco is clearly her daughter though, agreed. She left space cop guy because he was holding her back from universal domination and all that.

I had a lot of fun with it, and actually laughed out loud many times. It’s pretty darn hilarious and I love how it looks. Ending is beautiful as well, exactly my jam. Imaishi is awesome. Everybody who liked the 4th Episode of Kill La Kill, needs to check this out. Length is perfect as well. This one's a keeper.

Didn't comment on episodes two or three since I didn't watch them until today. I said that if all the episodes were like episode one, it might get boring... but they've kept their breakneck pace, and I'm still enjoying myself. I've been laughing out loud, which surprised me-- I don't normally do that, and I'm surprised at how much I've been enjoying myself. We've got Nonon's VA again, which is nice-- but I feel like she's more channeling Haruka (FLCL) this time around.

I'm excited for episode four, and curious about the "to be continued next season" rather than just "to be continued". Maybe it hints at a new feel to the episodes? Maybe a new storyline? (Or a storyline at all, since each episode has been fairly stand-alone-- even though some plot points are carrying through, it doesn't feel yet like there's a continuing narrative.) Maybe it hints at longer episodes, but I don't think I'd like that unless the feeling of the episode changed. The manic energy is nice in eight-minute bursts, but I think it would be tiresome for the length of a regular episode. Then again, I thought I might be getting bored of the manic energy after three episodes, but I was wrong about that.

Watched episodes four and five. The tone hasn't changed all that much-- it's still got that wacky, full speed all the time vibe working for it. I don't feel like I'll get tired of it because of how short the episodes are. 24 minutes of this would be an ordeal, but I quite like it in these seven-minute doses. Episode four was okay, I thought. It was the first time we get to see all three of our main characters together for a full episode. Episode five was pretty great, though-- subtle KLK reference in one of the outfits, and some amusing shenanigans with the chief. The show's pretty good at making me want more, since I'm excited for episode six to hurry up and get here.

This show has turned out to be a ton of fun. This week's episode was great! They're really packing a lot of material into these short episodes.

The newest episode - #7 - is one big, loving parody/homage/taking a piss out of Kill La Kill.

I loved it!

Yeah, at this rate, Luluco is a hot contender for AOTY.

Am I the only one convinced Nova has no interest in Luluco/has a GF somewherein space?

Remember the life fiber alien appeared in the minds of whoever saw it as whoever they wanted to be with, Nova referred tot he life fiber alien as a "he" implying he didn't see a girl.

I reckoned there were several Eva references in #6.

It's fun 'n all, but AOTY? I think that needs a good bit more to it.
