I've got a Solrock named Don Patch in one of my Ruby saves.

I tend to only nickname pokemon I'm actually going to use. The rest I just let rot in the PC boxes. I do have hoarding tendencies with some species (I'll usually fill an entire box with Feebas and one with Ralts, since they're both rare and it saves me the trouble of looking for more later). Most of the Ralts I use get named either Rei or Asuka. If I get a red Gyarados, I usually name it Ruby in honor of my first red Gyarados I caught years ago.

So I watched the last day of the Pokemon World Championship today in hopes of a new game announcement and we got nothing :(

Guess we have to wait until next spring for a potential new game reveal.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the series, Nintendo is giving away a mythical pokemon every month for X/Y and OR/AS.

I wonder if the US download codes would work with a Japanese version of the game. Probably not.

Breaking news, everybody. Thanks to a data leak from Pokémon Direct, we know what the big announcement for "Pokémon Day" tomorrow is going to be. It is. . . (read at your own risk)
SPOILER: Show
two all-new games for generation VII titled Pokémon Sun and Moon:http://www.inquisitr.com/2827049/pokemon-sun-and-moon-leaked-ahead-of-nintendo-direct-announcement/

Nice! Yet another great reason for me to get a Nintendo console this year. I've already got the money saved up, now I'm just waiting for more info on the NX before I decide what console to get. So far my plans are:

If NX is backwards-compatible with Wii U and 3DS/N3DS games: Buy NX.
If NX is only backwards-compatible with Wii U: Buy NX and N3DS.
If NX is not backwards-compatible with either: Buy Wii U and N3DS.

SPOILER: Show
I like the name choices of the two new games. Seeing as how they're named Sun and Moon, I'm hoping a day/night cycle will play a big part in the game. I bet the new legendaries are going to be awesome! Kinda disappointed we didn't get Pokemon Z, though.

Who says they'll be for the NX? We got two generations for the DS, we might be getting two for the 3DS too.

Which is why I'll be buying a N3DS if the NX isn't BC with 3DS/N3DS games. And by the way the platforms haven't been announced yet, it could very well be coming to NX. The article even mentioned that possibility. There's just too much we don't know right now.

Well they've been officially announced for the 3DS, predictably.

http://gematsu.com/2016/02/pokemon-sun- ... ounced-3ds

Worldwide release is scheduled for this holiday season. It's a full-fledged new generation with "a new world, new pokemon, and new adventures to discover." Honestly I was hoping for a 3DS/NX cross-platform release given how close it's releasing to the NX's rumored launch, but oh well. And damn, the Japanese pokemon logos are so much more badass than the English logos.

I thought we would get the first footage from the new games today?

What happened?

That article was updated today:

Update 4/3/16: As reported by Serebii, the footage on the show was the same as the one released back in February. It was the first airing of said trailer on Japanese television. However, Junichi Masuda confirmed, jokingly in response to a question about how many new Pokemon would appear in the game, that there will be at least 10 new Pokemon.

If nothing else, this is official confirmation this is Gen 7. Some people thought these were sequels to Gen 6 or Gen 6.5 -- so it's nice to know we're actually moving into the next generation.

I think that part was the joke. There will probably be a lot more than that. Hopefully. -o-;

More amazing news. Apparently, a live-action movie based on the Pokemon anime may be in the early planning stages:
http://www.slashfilm.com/live-action-pokemon-movie
So far, a number of studios have expressed interested in releasing it, including Warner Bros., Sony(!), and Chinese-owned Legendary Pictures(!!). I'm on the fence. It would definitely be cool to see a live-action Pokemon movie, and given that so many other anime are getting live-action adaptations recently (Ghost in the Shell, Attack on Titan, Death Note) to name only three) I see no reason to doubt that the movie is indeed happening.
More importantly, what audience will the movie shoot for? The early Pokemon movies were successful outside of Japan because at the time Pokemon was primarily popular with children, so the movies could be advertised with things like toys and breakfast cereal. But nowadays, most Pokemon fans outside Japan are teenagers and young adults, and many of them don't even watch the anime; how would a Pokemon movie be marketed to them?
Life can seem a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It's never easy when so much is on the line.

The Pokemon live action will be the best comedy of the year!
