Anime News Network wrote:Kadokawa announced on Thursday that it has green-lit a movie titled Sadako vs. Kayako, which will bring together the iconic horror film characters Sadako from Kadokawa's Ring franchise and Kayako from NBCUniversal's Ju-on franchise. The film will star Mizuki Yamamoto, and is slated to open in June 2016. Kōji Shiraishi (The Curse, A Record of Sweet Murder) is directing the film. Kadokawa also began streaming a teaser for the film on Thursday. Yamamoto (Hunter × Hunter -The Last Mission-, live-action Daily Lives of High School Boys) will play the character Yūri Kurahashi, who is caught between Sadako and Kayako. This will be Yamamoto's first horror film, but she stated that she is a fan of horror films, especially Shiraishi's The Curse. Yamamoto commented that her character Yūri has a strong sense of justice. The website of Ju-on: The Final previously ran an April Fools joke on its website that promoted a then non-existant "Sadako vs. Kayako" crossover film.

No really wat.
This will not work like freddy vs. jason because those could add some action in and not upset the tone at all, Ring's 1 through 0 however and Ju-On: The Grudge are classic Japanese horror that does not lend itself well to crossovers.

Also forgive my knowledge of canon a bit here but wasn't Kayako reborn in Ju-On: the grudge 2?
Kinda makes a sequel not as possible.

I can't comprehend and I can't imagine how it would work. None of them are much of a "hands on" killers like Jason or Freddy. They kill with magic and usually by presence itself. What they will do? A race "who kills more teenagers loololololo"? Some form of psionic battle at best but that's also not something that I could stomach with those two. No. Just. No.

(We may just end up with something as mind blowing as Sadako trying to hit Kayako in the face with her dick, but still I'm not sure I would watch that. >.>)

The only thing i can imagine is this. The main character finds himself hunted by both Sadako and Kayako so i guess the ''fight'' between them is actually who will be the first to kill him/her.

I saw one of the more recent Ju-on movies a while ago. It was horrible--not in a good way--and I assume the same for the others. So the direction probably won't be able to make anything serviceable out of the already shaky premise.

Maybe it'll be a horror rom com where they fight over the same dude.

Well to be fair neither Sadako or Kayako has really met anyone who is able to fight them. So it's like two people who we have never seen fighting, fighting each other.For all we know they could both be really good at it.

That being said given that both of them are very slow moving spooky characters, I'm thinking whatever the fight is, it's going to be damn weird...

More of a Kayako than Sadako fan myself and I tend to not have good impressions of vs. movies *Alien vs. Predator, anyone? :um: *. Chances are i'll skip this one.

I'm gonna go against the wave here, and say that I actually think this is a very interesting idea. Though, I have to admit, I haven't seen Ju-On and Ringu in a long time.

Neither have I, nor had I heard that there were any further movies of either. I'm tempted to see them now, but perhaps I don't want my positive memories of the originals "ruined" :lol:.
