Anyone know of critically acclaimed fics from EVA's home country that people have actually bothered to translate?

I'm... not sure such a thing exists.

What we consider enjoyable and what Japanese consider enjoyable are different things due to cultural differences. Besides, if a fic is enjoyable for Japanese, why would any Japanese bother translating it for gaijins? They already understand it themselves and don't care about us.

Weren't Jimmy Wolk's fics translated into several languages? Who's to say a Japanese writer can't be as generous?

I'm going out on a limb here, but don't we have a thread dedicated to just such a thing, one that supposedly has a better ending, where you can pretend that Shinji scored the emotionally vulnerable German chick.

We have a thread for a single Japanese written fan story, but not a thread for Japanese written stories in general

Again, it's a cultural thing. They are generally apathetic towards gaijins and don't care about us any more than you care about a random nameless person who lives halfway across the country and is in no way related to you.
