Lexus, with the assistance of an outside contractor, has created an actual, working hoverboard.

Nope!

The board only operates in a controlled environment, with a combination of liquid nitrogen (you see the steam billowing out of the sides) and magnets. It won't work outside of that course that was built.

I was looking for a general (possibly stickied) "Eva in the media" thread, but didn't find one. This isn't off-topic yet doesn't warrant its own thread. Not sure if it's the best idea to have to go to the OT forum to post an Eva-related video.

Anyways... Takahashi Yoko was on TV today singing Zankoku na Tenshi no These. This celebrity had been doing a marathon for most of the last 24 hours. Apparently he really likes Evangelion, so they invited her in after he finished. It's funny that they'd do this two days prior to the Blu-ray release, but considering they didn't make mention of that at all, it seems entirely unrelated.

Sorry for the shitty quality. I'll update the post with a better version if I can find one. Unfortunately everything that's on YouTube has either had its pitch changed or been recorded with a phone.

For some reason the first line of the song is lip-synched. The rest is sung live.

The creators are eva fans so im pretty sure that this was at least somewhat intentional.

The creators love a LOT of anime; it's always fun seeing what they sneak into each episode and figuring out what the references are.

This is a treasure of the world:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3tkaVcYgPA
and to copy the best mashup comment on there for the story of this video:
SPOILER: Show
Here´s the whole story, the ultimate mashup of comments:
"The ultimate baller encompasses the power of each and every player on Earth. All teams gather as one. And... how beautiful its bounce! Truly the most dunkin' thing I have ever beheld! I have finally, finally slammed the jam!"
This is the birth of Barkley, the Ultimate Baller!
"He's...He's become unfoulable!!! He has no more shot clock limit!! Not even a full-court shot will work anymore!!! Unblockable!! Unslammable!! No one will ever out-jam him!"

Stroheimdunk:
ITS MY FAULT! I WAS THE ONE WHO MADE JORDAN PLAY BASKETBALL! I SHOULD HAVE SEEN HIM HOLDING THE BUGS BUNNY MASK! NOW HES TRANSCENDED!! HE IS NOW BARKLEY!!! THERE IS NO WAY TO FIGHT SUCH PERFECTION! HE'LL DEVOUR SEKAI IICHIIII!!!!!! THE ONLY OPTION IS SUBMISSION!!!!!!!!

"A perfect baller is:
One, invincible.
Two, does not foul.
Three, will not ever be fouled.
Four, has the abilities of all other ballers and outperforms them.
In addition it is like a Harlem Globetrotter, a model for basketball."

"Jordan tried to fight Barkley with jamon, but it was useless, Barkley had already mastered the jamon"

Jordan: "SLAMON?!"

Barkley: "I have tamed The Suns themselves, did you really think a power like the dribble was beyond my grasp? Judging by the effects I'd say my dribble was hundreds of times stronger than yours."

Jordan: "A DRIBBLE HUNDREDS OF TIMES STRONGER?!"

"Barkley was about to destroy Jordan with the ultimate slamon dunk, but jordan interfered with its hand, holding the legendary Super b-ball, it reflected the dunk, causing the floor of the court to fly off from an eruption!"

Jordan: T-The Super b-ball...amplifies the DRIBBLE!!!!!

Barkley: "T-This is truly a remarkable blocking!!
,But, did you thought that a simple blocking is enough to stop the all-mighty Barkley, THIS IS YOUR LAST DUNK, JORDAN"

"Suddenly, the ball that was used for Barkleys dunk, flew through the sky being attracted by the dribble, it was targeting Barkleys neck!!"

Jordan: Next, you gonna say : ''was this part of your slam too, Jordan?!''

Barkley: Was this part of your---
''this moment, this single moment of slamming by Jordan's ball, sealed Barkley's jam!, Volcanic B-balls he could have shot dunked him even further!"
Barkley: "Was this all part of your slam, Jordan?!"

Jordan: "You're god damn right! Everything worked out according to Jordan's game plan... From the very beginning of the match!"

"The court didn´t had enough power to defeat Barkley, instead, the court banished Barkley oustide the reaches of our atmosphere"

Barkley: Impossible!!!!

"Barkley never returned to the court. Trapped in an endless accusation of using performance enhancing drugs, he was passed from Team to Team eternally. Eventually, craving to Slam, but unable to Jam, Barkley stopped thinking."
