Dreadful comparison time:

Another anime-related market already crashed about a decade ago: that of garage kits. If I compare the current output to the output in 2000-2005 (approx. when it crashed), it is awful. Another thing that is remarkable is that it's not the less mainstream stuff that suffered most in the crash and disappeared, instead, it is the niche moe stuff that survived. Most of the other genres were replaced by excessively expensive collectors' toys. :uhh: So if the same thing happens to the anime market...be afraid, be very afraid.

Well the garage kit mostly crashed because pre-painted figures skyrocketed in quality and availability. It got superseded by something more convenient to the consumer.

The event kits are still there in probably comparable numbers, but the companies switched to other, more profitable things. Even when you look at what's left over, like Volks' Charagumin line it comes with parts breakdown that allows them to pre-color resin close enough so that a lot less is required from the consumer to have a finished product.

The only masochist resin kits left from companies are what....Five Star Stories? And even that Nagano fudged with his Gothicmade retcons?
