Burning Tank Love, Here It Comes! (Tank thread)

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

We have to remember what's important in life: friends, waffles, and work. Or waffles, friends, and work. But work has to come in third.

Come read EVA Sessions! This place has it, too! There'll be pizza! Not really! There are other things, too! Not EVA Sessions! Did I mention the pizza!?

Gob: If you spoiler tag the images, it makes them smaller. Using [ timg] instead of [ img] will also make them smaller.

Unfortunately, this one is a fake. I can find no reliable sources confirming its existence.
Life can seem a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It's never easy when so much is on the line.

[/url:15ig232q] because I can't make the image work!

Apparently it did exist, or at least in limited numbers....

Most likely, they only built one, and it proved too much of a headache to pursue. I keep seeing rumors of three that were built and destroyed in frontline testing, but it looks like, in the very least, one was built.

Yeah you might be right about that, I can't find anything concrete either. Maybe it never got past the drawing board. I did find more info on it though, if it did exist:

And apparently someone is trying to mod it into World of Tanks.

*Edit* Crap, The KV VI an april fools' joke. Details here:

It does say that the twin-turreted KV IV and KV V were real projects, though, so that's pretty cool.

No, look at the link! There is at least one photograph that shows at least a single Russian Land Fortress was built! If ONLY one!

That one is unfortunately reported to be a photoshop of a Soviet military parade. If you look closely at the metal beam between the tracks, you can see that it is alarmingly warped and uneven. Plus it was referred to as the KV-1, and there's already a real tank with that designation:

I know, I wanted it to be real too. :huggles:

Here's a reminder that it's not about the size of the tank, it's about how it makes you feel on the inside.

No pictures for this one, but all the sci-fi tank lovers here have hopefully heard of the Hammer's Slammers short stories. If not, go educate yourselves! They are short, brutal, wonderfully written, and surprisingly accurate in terms of what a military unit has to deal with (if a bit more is added in to emphasize that war is anything but glorious).

Helps that the author, David Drake served as an interrogator with the 11th Armored Cavalry (Black Horse Regiment) during the Vietnam War. So this is a man that knows tank warfare.
