Need help fact checking for youtube video

Hi all, my name is Script Weaver and I'm a new anime reviewer on YouTube (only have 2 videos out so far).

I'm currently working on a script for my next vid which will detail on cool factoids about nge's production and theories that are either confirmed or proven wrong by a couple interviews found on this site. The main dish for the video would be the truth that Anno's original intended ending was air 25 and tv show ep 26.

I was hoping that before I create, upload and post the video, that I'd have my script fact checked by the very same people who roam this site (seeing how I found the articles and interviews on your all's site)

I intend to mention your all's very cool site in the description and (If I remember) in the video itself.

Are you guys willing to help?
Hey, whats your favorite anime? Evangelion? oh, and you? Evangelion too? oh an- you too?! why does everyone here like Evangelion?! Its like this is a Eva forum or something...

The answer is "it's complicated", not helped by Anno's rather cryptic statements on the matter. Here are a bunch of related threads.

Wow, thanks for putting all the links in one place! You can't imagine how hard it was to comb the forum for those pages.

One of his more recent interviews (2013) might help, too, unless that's what you meant in your original post: http://forum.evageeks.org/thread/15478/Hideaki-Anno-x-Kazuo-Koike-October-22-2013/

The most important statement straight from Anno himself on this was in an interview he recently participated in with Kazuo Koike. It can be found in the Stickied section of the Related Works & People section.

The most relevant part is this exchange (emphasis mine).

Student Questioner: What about the final episode of the TV series? You said you dislike moe, but isn't Asuka moe?

Anno: When I did the TV series, there was as yet no such thing as moe. I like Sailor Moon as well. For the TV series, we certainly ran out of time. We had no time for episode 25, so we remade it for the theatrical edition. The final episode, episode 26, was going to be that way originally. In the scene in episode 16 which depicts a conversation between Shinji and the angel, Tsurumaki-san forbade [the angel's use of] Japanese. So due to that, the theme became from then on conversations with oneself, and it ended with the question of how you can come to terms with other people. We did [the finale] in four days. We did the voice recording first, and then drew the storyboards.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

That kazuo interview is actually gonna be the theorized original concept ending I'm going to talk about/focus on in the video.

the interview is the main reason why I'm making the video. Its the clearest answer annos given in the past decade or so, I'm pretty pumped about it.

I was gonna also make a statement at the end of the video saying how, even though this interview exist and anno says what he says, I would say that he had said something differently or at least more vaguely in the past and there's always the possiblity of him saying something different in the future (I was going to add this in case people bring up past statements hes made and so I could clarify that I'm not stating this is the end all fact about its ending or something to that effect).

Do you guys think I should keep the statement in the video or take it out? (about the whole he may say differently thing)

I'm about halfway done editing the voice audio btw

p.s. Love ur username gainax, oops, I mean guy nacks lol

I think there's another source (Tsurumaki, Enokido, etc., or even Anno himself) somewhere saying that Anno wanted to also be able to remake ep 26 as well because he wanted to make it "more beautiful", referring probably to the Komm Susser Tod sequence and the one that occurs when Shinji rejects Instrumentality. But remaking ep 26 seemed to be him simply taking advantage of the bigger budget to make it more of a spectacle and wasn't something that he necessarily felt the need to redo.

Surprisingly, there were several people on here who didn't make that connection until I flat out explained it in one of the username threads.

So it sounds like I should take out the anti-butthurt statement( thats essentially what it is), gotcha

I'll problly just replace it with a newly recorded statement saying that just because anno said what he said about the ending, we still have a right as fans to personally decide the fate and end to evangelion as to satisfy our own preferred ending, sound good? (that way, everyone can be happy)

Anno's very vocal about how Evangelion can be interpreted in a number of different ways, depending on the viewer. He also knows that if he were to fully divulge what everything meant to him personally, he'd destroy the mythos and mystery of the series. I actually think his actions in deciding to remake the ending of the series are quite understandable, given how hindered he must have been at that point in terms of time and money. There was no way they would have been able to animate Asuka fighting the MP-evas or SEELEs assault on NERV, so that was dropped and we ended up getting more character introspection which utilized far less cels and could be made far easier, cheaper, and faster. Anno just had to come up with some introspective psychobabble for each of the characters to pad the episode out. I like both endings and am glad that both exist, but none can really exist without the other.

huh, very nicely worded. I hope my videos wrap up sounds just as nice (I'm probably gonna have a tough time transferring what I want to say into the video. Writing the script for this video have been a unique and unusual experience. Its easier frankly to write a review video then a explanation vid lol  )

also, thank you for your input its been extremely helpful ^_^

Thx for the voice of support! :D

btw, I'm practically finished with the video, just sanding the edges now. I know it's too late at this point to make changes, but I was curious, when anno said tsurumaki in the college interview with kazoo, did he mean his animator director/protégé? That would sound weird for a teacher to obey the orders of a student like that, I mean, just the word "forbade"(If he was using protégé the way I'm thinking). again, only asking for curiosities sake.

Anyways, yeah, videos will be up this week and I'll leave a link here as well. There'll also be a joke bit I added in the end (a sort of parody to a scene from the movie), I couldn't resist  .

The passage uses the Kanji 禁, which means ban or forbid pretty unambiguously. It is a harsh word to use, but considering the friendship of Tsurumaki and Anno, it kinda makes sense.

Tsurumaki and Anno go way back. Makki started working at Gainax doing the omake science lessons for Gunbuster and aparrently impressed Anno with his work so much so that by the time Nadia rolled around, I'm pretty sure he was doing key animation and even serving as lead episode director on a couple of occasions. Plus, the above exchange sounds more like a general collaboration of ideas and Makki giving his input rather than straight up forbidding Anno to do something.

very interesting, very cool. btw, the videos up, though khara has already detected it (its going through a dispute).

youtube screwed up the thumb nail, so heres a pic of the original thumb nail.

Also, heres the video you all have been waiting for, enjoy. This took me roughly 2 weeks to make. I tried fixing any rendering glitches I caught during its process. Hopefully my video provides enough ideas or info to be considered more then a regurgitation of forum information.

I thanked you all in the description for your help.

EDIT: I'm gonna attempt to reupoload the video so that Studio Khara doesnt detect it

Ok guys, I've reuploaded a version of the video that didn't get detected by Khara or content ID. The links below. The link above still works, but its for a unlisted version of the video thats still going through the dispute process. Getting this up was not easy, lol.

I'd love to know how you all liked it and what your thoughts are on it.
