Since I'm almost there when it relates to the legacy content migration of Darkscribes I thought I would propose a project that will be connected with Evafics.net as that is the Evangelion specific group for the site. I'm wanting to get some folk together and start deep diving archive.org and recovering all the old and lost fanfiction that was on geocities and other archives that may have not been saved by places like reocities or ffn. This would be basicaly a job of going in, finding the stuff, and entering it into the system.

Obviously some would want us to take the time to try and get permission and the like. In some cases that just might be impossible. So I'm thinking we have a better to beg forgivness then ask permission policy thing on that. I'll be thinking more on it as I massage the data for The Legacy.

I'm also open to suggestions as it relates to additions to the evafics group as this operation is continued in planning.

There are several archive.org links in the recommendations sticky already, so some of the work has been done -- it would just need a simple crawl through to get you some bootstrap material.

That's a good place to start once The Legacy is finished on DS.

We may be able to get most of EFO through archive.org

Not entirely certain EFO is needed as the last DS codemonkey decided it wasn't worth the effort of maintaining and just merged it's content into DS. Theoretically at least the EFO content should be part of The Legacy Import. Not that I'm going to disagree with diving the archive.org page.

No shocker there. FFN has done everything they can to lock down and lockout their system.

I've posted a new update to Evafics.net concerning the Magma Diver Project. We have a forum topic avilable to start discussing any rules that might actually be needed for this. Also requests for specific stories can be added to the forum there for concideration / working into the database.
