I ended up just getting it on Buyee. Hopefully everything goes smoothly with that.
Though, I still need Re-Take After... that wasn't available.

I've come across very expensive clothes, but this is some high end shit. Nothing under $200: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2015/01/16/apparel-brand-yohji-yamamoto-offers-evangelion-collaboration-items

The designer's famous enough to have a Wikipedia article but I've not heard of him. Need to move up in the world!

It never stops blowing my mind that designer companies can charge shit tons of :money: for simple things because you're paying for the brand.

Especially mindblowing to pay so much money for an anime-printed shirt.

I prefer ambiguous Eva shirts that feature non-easily identifiable objects that embody the show.

Shirts with characters on them scream "nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrdddddd."

In other news, got some new swag, BUNCH of Eva film strips.

Leaving out a lot of them, but here are a few:

^Why keep any out, share em all!

Damn those are some good pickups, esp the Mari x Shinji scene, I have a postcard of that shot. I also have a strip from earlier in the Asuka cooking sequence.

Hope they didn't cause too much damage. :uhh:

Picked up a couple with used DVDs of 1.01 and 2.02. The 1.01 is just ridiculous as it's the urinal scene in the shelter, but it was 500¥ for the DVD and all, so I can't complain much.

Found a yahoo auction seller that had the whole LD collection (minus the rare Eva Concert one that I already have) and I couldn't resist. Shipping was hilariously expensive (19500 yen) but whatever, it was cheaper to do this than buy the volumes I was missing individually.

How much was it overall (including shipping and handling) in American currency? The LDs have some neat cover art. WAY BETTER than the Japanese R2 DVDs.

About $250USD altogether including domestic/international shipping charges and middleman fees. The auctions themselves were just $50+domestic ship+bank wire fees. Package was 15kg. Looking at current ebay auctions, I saved about $100-150USD by going with the Yahoo Auctions route and ended up with a set that's in better condition.

I thought about getting the LD volumes of the TV series myself (as I only have Symphony of Evangelion, Genesis 0:X, and the movie box set in that format), but I gave up on that after buying the pre-Renewal DVD releases (the ones in CD-sized jewel cases) for a total of $20 on eBay.

Like soupy said, shipping LDs overseas is indeed exceedingly expensive. That, and the pre-Renewal DVDs used the same video masters as the LD releases so the content is identical.

There was a listing on YJA at one point involving over 100 film strips for sale. You jump on that one?

@soupy: Awesome haul. Makes me question buying the extras for the theatrical LD box set without the LD, but at the time I didn't see the point of having LDs.

I went with the individual YJA sales, along with three unopened Blurays.

Evangelion film strips have reached a very low demand. There's barely any competition.
I doubt there's any resale value to this, and the amount of sellers thinking their wares are worth upwards of $200+ per frame just because the frame features a character are silly. None of it sells.

The ones that are good which I've seen posted on Japanese image boards
are going to stay in personal possession for a long time.
It's not something that takes up space that one might want to get rid of,
unless they need the cash.

Anyhow, I don't expect to buy any more film strips besides about four more.

In short: I give Evangelion film strips a "Do Not Buy" rating.
In and of itself, self-evident.

That Japanese recession in effect also a likely a factor.

Do not buy is the final verdict? Sounds like film strip OD. :| The one I paid the most for is Asuka cooking (around 1200¥). The rest weren't too bad. I'll post the ones I got with my used Book Off DVDs, one is just lol.

Heh, I think I got that Refrain of Eva CD (Love it!) from Rightstuf for only $7 in 2006. Lots of great deals on things depending on what you're looking for.

I might be checking RightStuf regularly from now because these CDs are like $20-30 bucks a pop on other major retailers. They had other Eva Soundtracks on sale the other month but I guess they removed the listing since it probably sold out so fast. They were all like $5. :gendo_kimura:

^They're clearing out old stock. Got The Day of Second Impact from them a couple years ago and Refrain's sold out. Personally CDs and soundtracks aren't a big collecting draw for me because there's way to obtain the same thing for $0 and I've never seen the point of paying more than ~$20 for a single disc.

I've found that Rightstuf tends to beat Amazon on domestic Eva product pricing and there's no sales tax if you're outside Iowa, although the minimum order threshold for free shipping is $49.

I only thought of posting this now, but I got a pretty good deal on an EoE DVD at Half Price Books recently.
