Huh? Well obviously this isn't subject of universal agreement but if you ask me previous good work from these fellas (that I've seen):
Mamoru Oshii: The Sky Crawlers 2008
Masaaki Yuasa: Ping Pong 2014
Mamoru Hosoda: Wolf Children 2012
Isao Takahata: Kaguyahime 2013
Kunihiko Ikuhara: Penguindrum 2011
Shinichiro Watanabe: Space Dandy 2014
Kenji Kamiyama: Moribito 2007
Junichi Sato: Tamayura More Aggressive 2013
Shoji Kawamori: AKB0048 Next Stage 2013
Yasuhiro Imagawa: Shin Mazinger Shogeki! Z Hen 2009
Kenji Nakamura: Tsuritama 2012
Mahiro Maeda: Gankutsuou 2005
Maeda aside (who is hardly profilic director, Gankutsuou is his newest series) none of these are particularly old works.

The talented industry workbase is rapidly dwindling and aging and unless some sort of major shift in constitution and attraction the industry holds for young animators to be happens the current anime industry will probably be gone in 20 years time. Animator Expo is all about Anno fighting the trend and trying to prolong its existence as well as he can, just like with his beloved tokusatsu. He seems to think both will be gone in 30 years or so though.
