I thought the same thing at first too until I saw the copyright on the bottom was 2003. It's based on what she wore when she went to the laundromat in Episode 11, right before that giant spider attacked Tokyo-3. She even has a shirt in that bag of hers.
Nonetheless, the Yamashita scene is great. :kawaii:

Not "Beats" - it's "The Beast" (mirrored), in the style of "The Beatles" - a joke or a pun, you might say.

I think another reason the (now old) shirt is backwards is to reference how The Beast is a secret inverted mode, but maybe that's a stretch. -o-;

I'd totally wear one just because it references both Beatles and Eva--if only they weren't so expensive.

Those clothing collections are actually pretty nice looking. Very classy for Eva merchandise.

Still, the lack of Shinji (and the use of the wrong Asuka) is disappointing. I guess emotionally vulnerable, clingy young boys just don't move product. Maybe they'd have more luck selling him if they targetted the Jousei market- everybody knows that elegant older women love shotas.

The wrong Asuka (and Rei) are probably because a scarred constantly grumpy girl and another with a very limited emotional range doesn't exactly constitute selling material for clothes, especially since they weren't seen wearing anything but their plugsuit!

As for Shinji, remember that the campaign isn't over yet, Mari too don't have her own line yet.

Well, they made an action figure of him not too long ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he owns one. And plays with it.
