The best ice cream cup cakes are from Cold Stone. Creamy ice cream on top of a small cake inside a Belgian chocolate shell. It's love. :D

They're really good. They come six in a pack. Chocolate ice cream over chocolate cake, cake batter ice cream over red velvet and sweet cream ice cream over vanilla cake. It's heaven!

Sorry for the late reply. It was a type of rice flour noodle. Even though it's called "soba", yakisoba is usually made with ramen or chuuka noodles.

Coldstone is amazing- it's just so expensive for ice cream. I don't eat there often. Still amazing though.

A scratch prawn curry I put together the other day -- king prawns, garlic and tomatoes (the only fresh veg I had to hand that day), a stir-fry sauce, and a pack of fancy microwave rice. Took about 10 minutes to assemble.

The mortar is there for the previous course (for making quick cashew crumbs to go with mango chutney on top of a baked Camembert -- rub garam masala in the the rind, put in a baking pot, spread the nutty chutney on top).

That sounds absolutely delicious.

I haven't posted here in a while because I've been busy with exams and such, and had little time to cook. Hopefully I'll have some free time now.
I made pizza dough yesterday. I'd planned to take a picture of the pizza (which I topped with mushrooms, green bell peppers and sausage) but I totally messed up when I tried to transfer the pizza to the pizza stone, and ended up with baked mush.
Today I decided to take some of the remaining dough (which is even tastier now, having had more time to rise) and make a skillet pizza. I topped it with anchovies (these ones weren't too salty, fortunately), capicola and artichoke hearts. I also spread some olive oil on the bottom of the skillet, which gave the pizza a crispy, delicious bottom. I dare say it was the best pizza I've ever made.

Today I made a variation on the traditional Thai dish 'Som Tam', a green (unripe) papaya salad.
It contains finely julienned green papaya, halved cherry tomatoes (which unfortunately you can't really see in the picture), some coriander, lots of red Thai chilies (this dish hurts) and salt roasted peanuts. I also mixed it up by adding some blanched shrimp. It's seasoned with fresh lime juice, Thai fish sauce and a little bit of sugar. Ideally I'd also add Chinese long beans and possibly dried shrimp, but I didn't have any on hand. This isn't a by-the-book salad by any means, but I'll be damned if it didn't still taste great.
Image
I had it with some white rice (unfortunately I didn't have any sticky rice, so I settled for Jasmine rice) to counterbalance the rather extreme heat from the chilies.

EDIT:
Adding it to this post because there have been no replies to my last.
I made some onigiri again. Two I filled with tuna (canned, it works great in onigiri), and two with salted umeboshi paste and green onion. I made one of each as regular onigiri, and one of each as yaki-onigiri. They came out fantastic.

I really don't want to be triple-posting in a thread, so here:

Tasty as hell! :asuka_thumbsup:

Today's entry, with pics? Gluten free apple crisp!

I was a little worried how this would come out (I've only made an improvised version with GF oatmeal (for the crisp), cinnamon, and apples before), but it ended up fine. My situation was similar to those Betty Crocker reviews that it was a hit and everybody loved it.

Highly recommended if you're baking a birthday dessert for that special someone who hasn't tried apple crisp before. ;)

CRAWFISH BOIL!

SSD had never eaten crawfish and my dad cooks some mean mudbugs, so we had a crawfish boil.

It was awesome. I thought shrimp/crab/lobster was good, but crawfish is definitely up there. :D

I've dissected one, but never eaten one. Do they taste something like lobster?

Part of the head does, the rest of it reminds me of crab or shrimp. Zap can probably describe it better.

They taste a bit like a lobster. They smell like a stinky shrimp. It's kind of its own taste in the same way that other decapods have unique flavors. Gotta suck all the stuff out of the head too. Good times.
