I wonder if the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender ever saw Nadia: The Secret Of Blue Water
There have been some similar comparisons Between Nadia & Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Here's some things I noticed:
Both are epic quests to save the world that start with a chance encounter
The opposition to villan is a rag-tag bunch of misfits from many nations
Any dream or flashback sequence is very surreal
Both had films that are mostly disliked by fans
Nadia & Katara:
Tanned complexion with contrasting blue eyes
Highly moral, more than her companions
Wears a necklace with a blue pendent that is connected to her mother
Loves the hero but doesn't act on it until nearly the end of the story
Is jealous of any other female who shows an interest in the hero
Has a dead mother & a strained relationship with father
At one time wears a skimpy mostly red outfit
Nadia & Toph:
From an aristocratic background
Skilled at entertainment
Lacking interpersonal skills
Has an inner sadness, but shows it as anger
Treats companions with short shrift, but gets better in time
Had no human friends when growing up
Finds it hard to open up to people, but eventually manages it
Nadia & Aang:
Shys away from their destiny
Never really knows their parents
Doesn't eat meat
During the adventure visits lots of temples & finds out what is going on
Technical pacifist
Jean & Aang:
Cute lovable guy
Loves the heroine but doesn't act on it until nearly the end of the story
Dies at one point & has to be resurrected
Not brought up by parents
Likes to fly whenever possible
Jean & Sokka:
Likes inventing things
Tends to get knocked about more that the other regulars
Gets high after eating something they shouldn't
Gargoyle & The Fire Lord:
Is intent in ruling the whole world, even if it means committing genocide
Uses much advanced technology to make weapons
Keeps his face out of view
Wears mostly red & black clothes

With The Light
I've never heard of Nadia/Avatar comparisons before. The one that seems to have the most attention is the Nadia/Atlanis ripoff theory.

Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.
