I already posted these in another editorium thread, but seeing as nothing was done, I'm posting these here.

Awhile back I created these Script pages on the wiki, but never got around to them:

http://wiki.evageeks.org/Evangelion_1.11_Script_(Translation)

http://wiki.evageeks.org/Evangelion_2.22_Script_(Translation)

If anybody wants to take a whack at translating, here's the Japanese scripts for 1.11 and 2.22. Shouldn't be against the rules since it's a handy resource to have and wasn't included in Funimation's release:

1.11: http://www.mediafire.com/?r0do7i1dxdrjotj

2.22: http://www.mediafire.com/?et3gbefu4ea7b9p

I get that work still needs to be done on translating for the Commentary Project, but maybe an eventual NME Commentary Project could give folks some needed motivation or interest.

Do you know where to get the Japanese script for 2.22 and 3.33 as an html or txt file? Or possibly the Japanese subs as an ssa file?

The scripts were included on the Japanese Blurays/DVDs. The above format that people extracted them in is the only one I know about.

If I had a bluray drive on my pc I could extract the subs. I thought maybe someone might have already done that. I have an html file for the original 1.0 script but I can't remember where I got it. Oh well. Not worth buying a bluray drive for.

Was this a limited edition insert kind of thing or was it a special feature on the disc? Either way, is this common? Because it almost seems like they want to provide us material to help us analyze their movies to death .

Special feature, the Death/EoE Renewal DVD had the scripts too. Dunno if it's a common practice, maybe somebody else knows.

This works if anyone else is interested in converting the jpg script to text:

http://www.newocr.com/

Someday I'll get around to converting both 2.22 and 3.33

Wow, that actually seems to work. Thanks for the kind. We should definitely try this with the higher res script shops.

Nuclear Lunchbox was asking about our empty 3.33 wiki script page, so I figured a bump is in order.

Any takers with helping translate*? Or is the Fan Geeks Commentary the first priority since we barely have any translators around, anyway?

*I could put my free time into translating the scripts myself, but some of the script/film terminology would probably throw me off. And it'd take a long, long time, if people would be fine with that.

I'm still toying with the scripts of the DC episodes from time to time. Feel free to ask if you have any question about the film/camera slang. I'm still not sure about the meaning of a few terms, but most of them are quite simple.
There are a few useful sites around, like www.mars.dti.ne.jp/~yato/eva/cont.htm and www.inouejet.com/camera. A Wiki page would be a good thing to have...

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind! :)

I think I might work with the first scene of 1.11 and (very slowly) go from there. Best to translate them in order, I think.

Slow work is slowly happening.

What's a better resource than the scripts, eh?

Testing out an OCR program I haven't heard of before and it worked pretty well. A few kana/kanji couldn't be picked up but better than nothing.

Planning on just translating since that's the Fan Geeks Commentary format. If people would want a section for Japanese text, I'm not even sure where would be a good spot to include it (so it wouldn't be intrusive).

Edit: Included the 2.0 Preview (from this thread) onto the 2.0 wiki page. Fixed up anything that was worded funny.

I don't think this has been released yet, at least no official version.

I haven't seen an official version, either.

Just FYI, those Script pages + Mediafire links are still in working order, for anybody potentially interested in working on the pages ^_^
