Hyphens don't work in passwords

Postby Noah » Wed Oct 23, 2013 12:19 am

I just found out that while you can sign up with a hyphen in your password, you can't actually log in with that password. This is a security risk, and bothersome for people using Apple-generated random passwords (for iCloud Keychain use), as they include hyphens by default. Passwords should support all alphanumeric and punctuation for the best security, and be case-sensitive.

Just created a user and used a password that's every 7-bit non-letter/number character, including hyphens, and I logged in just fine.

Oh, for some reason safari was auto-filling my name in place of my email, so it was actually giving me the error "Invalid email address", which I didn't notice.

In that case, all's right with the world.
