Images and (not) Board Styles

Most people probably don't bother, but a few years back, some users wanted the forums to display in a fixed width, so that was added to the board's style by default, I don't remember what the max width is, probably something like 1200 pixels or something. Other users wanted the forum to always be the width of their browser (for people who have their browsers set to the width of their screen), so the "Wide" styles were added. You can choose this when you edit your profile.

Also at some point, I added a div in the bbcode renderer so that images that are wider than 700 pixels will have a div in it so that a scrollbar appears. This is so people who post huge images won't completely fuck up the forum's layout.

Problem is, people who use the "Wide" styles have a wider browser window so the images don't (necessarily) need to be div'ed to be 700 pixels. So I made some more changes to the bbcode renderer so that the div won't be inserted for people using the 2 "Wide" styles. This means if those image divs annoy you, you can set the board style to one of the "Wide" ones, even if your browser window isn't that wide the forum will still display correctly.

Maybe at some point, I'll remove this dirty hack and make it so people can set whether they want images to be div'ed and the cutoff width in their user profiles.

OK, I had some time to kill so I went ahead and added a user configurable preference for a max image width within posts. This isn't tied to your board styles anymore, you need to go into your profile and set the number of pixels you want the max image width to be. If you set this to 0, then no max image width will be used (no matter how wide an image is inside a post, the scrollbars will never be used).

The default is still 700, but at least now you can tailor it to the width of your browser window.

Under the "Preferences" section.

Based off some feedback here: http://forum.evageeks.org/thread/4/Forum-Feedback/20/?

I changed the max width coding in the bbcode renderer so that if the image is larger than the user's max_width preference, then it simply resizes the image rather than adding scroll bars. Additionally, the link to the image is automatically created so you can click on these images to see the full size (un-resized images aren't made into links).

We'll see how this goes and if it sucks, then I can change it back.

Aye, 'tis much obliged. It was hard to appreciate those large images when I had to right click + open in new tab just to see them.
