What did I just say!

That was a happy time for me. When I saw the rushes of the scene where Tokyo Tower revolves, shot by special effects director Kamiya, I was moved to tears. I once again became cognizant of my love for tokusatsu.

goddamnit Anno stop being so frickin' moe.

Great job as always, Numbers-kun.

Oh, snap. Numbers is back in town. High fives all around.

View Original PostAnno wrote:Personally, I want to try making new films and television series aimed at everyone from junior high school students onwards that enable [viewers] to re-experience tokusatsu. Even watching Toei's Super Sentai Series, I feel that power stems from persevering. As it stands now, there are high hurdles [to be overcome] here as well, but in any case I want to create interesting works, both in tokusatsu and in anime.

Hmmm...makes me wonder if perhaps Anno will try his hand at doing more live-action material.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Secretly? There was never any doubt from the outset, truly.

Cool interview by the way, and thanks for translating Numbers-kun.
Feel like chucking on some Ultraman or Gojira now, haha.

Such a moving interview, in some ways... Anno is getting old and pondering his legacy. (And another datapoint on how close Anno and Miyazaki are.)
