This is brand new TV CM for Q with Utada Hikaru's new song.

Its actually the first official footage of all the new stuff in the movie, including new character designs and new Eva designs.

Looks sweet

Shinji looks like a pig bawwling there.

I feel slightly bad for saying that.

Looks like Shinji and Kaworu are rehearsing the classic kirk/spock style window love.

Also, I'm surprised to see that expression on Rei, it gives me hope that she's not the reported complete vegetable.

Astounding how they managed to keep such a big twist under wraps so far.

Kinda confused by Rei's Expression considering what we know about her in 3.0, makes me wonder.

Why is this in 2.35:1? Is the movie actually in that aspect ratio or just this TV spot?

0:03 - The Wunder's engines fire red liquid above and below before asplodin'.

0:05 - some sort of barrier being hit by that oh-to-familiar wave of red stuff?

0:07 - what 15 years of continuous puberty does to one's temperament.

0:09 - Mari on the phone to her agent trying to find out where that planned B story about her rocking Kaji's world went.

0:10 - Ladies and gentlemen - thats the shot. Right there. Thats why we got fan art in a matter of hours. Thats why Karowu is now Bishonen Space Jesus.

AWW MAN, AWW MAN
It really feels like Eva is heading into a new exciting direction now.

Can't wait to see how Asuka vs Shinji works out in this sequel with what happened in EoE and all.

What is that on the floor?

Swooping by, it kinda reminded me of this scene,

but on closer inspection they look like skulls.
But even then, it kind of looks like a photo rather than something that was drawn

Not sure what to think of the slightly off model screaming/perspectives though

@IO I believe those are the Eva sized Skulls on the floor people have described.

Hmm, that would make sense.
But those skulls look kind of out of place, don't they?
The perspective looks kind of weird and the colors and lines makes it look like one of them real-lifepictures SHAFT inserts

Yes, skulls. Confirmation from art book scans.

They appear to be too big to be human skulls. I'm plumping for saying they are the skulls of 'eva-sized beings'.

It's the actual aspect ratio. I'll quote myself from the image thread.
View Original PostNoriko is my wife wrote:(This is a tangent but) the images confirm that aside from the first preview all the trailers and the 7 minutes shown on TV have been cropped. Some 2ch comments have mentioned Q being "in cinemascope" so the previews are obviously not representing the look of the film. Is it to avoid black bars on TV? I would think better framing would outweigh that but what do I know...

Anno has confessed his love for 'scope before. Now I think the cropping was done as a little gift to those who would see it during the premier so they wouldn't be spoiled.

Well, I think it's fitting. It makes the feeling that the noose is tightening even stronger. Also I love when Anno plays with the presentation... As he did in Gunbuster, when everything was in Black&White.
Let's see what will happen in Final.

I'm glad that finally someone else recognised it... my heart has been crying more for the lack of recognition to Kuro-Rei than for Kaworu's fate, her face tells me that she's not a soulless robot, ok they say that she's soulless but she still looks human enough to qualify as my new waifu:

I really liked this new TV spot.

Good song, too.
