Do you think Misato will survive Rebuild?

She kinda survived Eva TV. Didn't EoE or the Sadamoto manga. :shinji_boohoo:

But do you think Misato will survive Rebuild, if 4.0 is...nicer than EoE was.

Is Anno likely to change his life-is-a-bitch lesson for kids?

More like she could have survived EoE, if she could have had the same outcome as Asuka.

Nobody is going to survive rebuild. Not even us. Because 4.0 will be released in 2123.

Rebuild will be far nicer than EoE and EoTV.

However, Misato is going to take Kaworu's place in the backburner and she'll be displaced by Mini-Misato XD
SO THERE I WAS BEING KUBO, WHEN THE EDITORS CAME IN AND WERE LIKE "YOU NEED TO DO MORE THAN PANELS OF WHITE PILLARS AND BLACKGROUNDS!" AND I WAS LIKE "FUCK YOU, I'M KUBO!" SO THEY WERE LIKE "WELL HOW ABOUT SOMEBODY DYING?" AND I WAS LIKE "FUCK YOU, I'M KUBO!" AND I MADE LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY. I LOVE MY LIFE.

Mini-Misato is Misato, you fools. Near Third Impact made everyone on Earth 14. That pink haired one is Kihl.

There will be hijinks. Hijinks I say.

Seriously, no, she's going to die to inspire Shinji or something. Asuka is also going to die, because Anno both hates me, personally, and loves me, personally.

As long as her death isn't in vain, like it was in EOE, I'll be fine.

The same way that Kaji's also looking pretty good, considering, in the Congratulations scene.

Well, at this point I think we won't see much of Misato in the remaining two installments... So even if she dies nobody would care.

That's a lot more depressing than having her die.

...Yes? I think I'm going to have to go with yes.

Rebuild may not be the angst-fest NGE was, so all of the characters seem a bit more mentally stable. That said, the stakes for the world itself are higher, and shit's gone off the rails since 2.22. And if you take the Ghost/Quantum Physics Rei appearing in 1.11 a sure sign that 3I is going to happen, well, get ready for some dead Misato. Again.

Then again, you'll probably have to get ready for a dead everyone.

This just came to mind but what if Anno trolls us and Final is just EoE with Rei standing in for Asuka's parts. Or Mari. Or even Misato? Anno wouldn't just completely troll us like that. Right? Right?!

As long as we're wildly speculating, how about this one:

Misato dies and Kaji lives.

Some tentative clues supporting this is that a rekindling of their earlier romance did not happen in Rebuild 2.0, even though it did happen in NGE. (What specifically did not happen was Misato's promotion to colonel, followed by a party where she drank too much, and Kaji taking her home.)
Note that in Rebuild, Kaji is actually trying to come on to Misato, even by making her jealous with Ritsuko, but she steadfastly rejects his attempts. Kaji's interest in Shinji might even be nothing more than him attempting to get closer to Misato (to show her that he can play the part of a parent, too). After all, Misato is all they ever talk about, even if Shinji doesn't realize it.

Think about it:
- In NGE, Misato and Kaji reunited, with Misato suddenly becoming emotionally dependent on someone else. Then Kaji dies, and Misato is affected heavily, which ultimately leads to her no longer blindly following NERV's agenda.
- In Rebuild, Misato and Kaji do not reunite, with Misato stubbornly rebuking Kaji and clinging to her independence. If Kaji were to die here, it would not affect Misato as much as in NGE. However, if Misato were to die, this could trigger all sorts of character development in Kaji, especially if he is in a position to blame himself for her death.

Genderflip the original Eva. Misato dies for saving Kaji, Asuka sacrifices herself for Shinji's happiness like Kaworu and Kaworu himself (if not gone already) dies by pulling a Rei off... :maybe:

The gun scene in the early preview was very odd if the scene is still in the finished product than I wonder who he's pointing the gun at. possibly revenge?

I would think that her dying would serve a purpose but even if she sacrifices herself to help Shinji, it would depend on whether Shinji takes that as a sign to fight through the pain since in EoE, Unit 01 had to pick up an unwilling Shinji.
