This is a small thing from the end of 1.11, right after Shinji opens Rei's entry plug the scene pans up to the moon and it isn't blood streaked, I just noticed this and I don't recall any other from Earth shots of the moon, so maybe this was just an over sight but right after this the scene goes to Kaworu waking up on the blood streak.

Different angle possibly?, and since the blood-on-the-moon thing hasn't fully been explained "yet", we kinda lack of information to even begin to think that the blood can be seen from earth.

Correct me if im wrong but... when the 2I scenes show up they never actually say anything about blood being splattered over the moon, was this shown in an erased-storyboard sorta thing?.(Which by the way a lot of people don't take those in consideration, but who knows if they actually have something to do with final-work).

I've just realised something: Mari calls Shinji "NERV's puppy" when they first meet. When Asuka first meets Shinji in NGE, she calls him a "puppy" too.

And speaking of mari, I didnt realise until the dub that she was speaking to Kaji before the Tunniel battle. Given that Kaji's next lines were the 'Gu'run' engrish bit you hadnt blame me for my mistake :p

Actually surprised that no-ones tabled the notion that its Mari who has a crush on Kaji in rebuild. Its not particularly evident from 2.0 but will didnt learn much about Mari generally.

Interesting.

I don't know if this is a correlation, but Mari's inflection of "It's good to be alive," after Tunniel struck me as remarkably similar to Asuka "I don't want to die," at the bottom of the lake in EoE.

Not in the Japanese version, she doesn't.

That isn't to say that there is no prior association of Shinji with dogs before, though. See the TV soap playing in the background during the ep08 scene where Kaji and Asuka have lunch with Misato et al.
