Someone tried to break into the house last night. Hardly got any sleep with the police showing up and all. And I have homework I need to do before school on Monday. Fucking family vacation has ruined my entire break.

Yeah, the alarm scared them off. I don't understand why they tried breaking into the house at 2:00 AM though; experienced burglars usually try in the middle of the day when no one is home.

"Shinji..." Ritsuko said into the com link. "Some of that Angel's body is still
organically active. It may be able to regenerate. If we can't get it out of
EVA-01's system, there's no telling what might happen! You've got to do this!"
They watched from the control room. The EVA looked like it was trying to copy
"The Thinker" in the way it was seated on the support beams. Finally, however,
the massive robotic weapon stood defiantly without depositing anything into the
holding-tank.
Shinji was furious. "Listen, dammit. Listen like you have never listened to
anyone before in your entire life. My sync rate is not going to get any higher
today. I don't have to take a shit. My EVA does not have to take a shit.
Therefore, WE WILL NOT SHIT! Now GET ME OUT OF HERE!"
Ritsuko sighed and pressed a button, muting the connection. "I say we flood the
LCL with laxative."
Misato, having quiet enough of it, reached over and pressed the technician
intercom switch. "Return EVA-01 to it's holding position. Get the pilot out of
there."
"What are you DOING!?" Ritsuko demanded.
"Ending Operation Number-Two." Misato replied. "Go ahead. Try to stop me."
The blonde-haired scientist finally conceded, and slumped in her chair. "Fine.
We'll try again two days from now." |

Depression-bomb hitting me. Probably due to family stress (Everybody being down about Grandpa being gone as well as financial worries since the trip was so unexpected with the job market still sucking) and crappy Upstate NY weather compared to sunny California. (The sunset being at 4PM (NY) versus 6-7PM (CA) is a huge difference. At least I have a lightbox but it only helps so much.)
What really sucks is knowing the depression/anxiety is hitting you and there not being much you can do about it as the hopelessness/helplessness swallows you whole. (Obviously there's therapy+meds, I mean in terms of MENTALLY how you're left feeling.)
At least the above post regarding Eva-01 taking a shit got a chuckle out of me.

Oh, I know. It's just annoying as fuck when I already have a hard enough time getting motivated as it is (some of it's ADD (seriously), some of it's NOT taking things one-thing-at-a-time as I should), but depression spells (I've had depression/anxiety since I was 14; I'm 26 now. It comes and goes.) make it worse. Find myself having complete lack of interest in any various Eva-related projects of mine. (All long-term stuff. One is a fanfiction-turned-something else (either regular or online visual novel) idea, I don't know yet. Another is finishing up a doujinshi translation for a friend and the rest is mainly some stuff for EGF (translating shit for the wiki. And of course my long-neglected baby concurrency project since I don't have the Programs needed for the latter). And believe you me, I do have other interests outside of Eva, I just don't have much motivation OR $ for them.
Thoughts are all scattered about today. I haven't felt like doing much of anything. Fucking weather and the days being so damn short. (Seriously. There's something to "On sunny days, you feel good. On rainy days, you feel down. Once you've been taught that, you make yourself believe that's how you should feel.", but SAD does--annoyingly--exist.)
At least I have a light-box (used it in California for my depression; I forgot all about it when I moved back East) which can alleviate the feelings somewhat.

Not to criticize you in particular (because I know how standard a response this is), but I've never understood how this was supposed to comfort anyone. It only makes me feel worse, because it reminds me that however bad I have it, 1) I have no right to complain 2) I am less deserving of sympathy than the millions of others who have it worse 3) if I'm not careful it could get yet worse.
Like seriously. First of all, knowing that other people are out there suffering even worse than I am is no consolation. We are expected to be saddened, not comforted, by stories of Nazi cruelty and images of starving Somalis. But secondly, what I would rather hear is that it's never gotten worse than I've got it -- that there's pretty much nowhere for me to go but up, that my bad luck is an extreme anomaly so I shouldn't expect it to get much worse.
What's always uplifted me personally are stories where people's bad situations have gotten better. Things like stories about veterans who lose three limbs but walk out of the hospital as able-bodied prosthetics-enhanced individuals. Or stories about people who are like me but were able to either solve their problem or learn to live with it in a way that I could too (such as by determination as opposed to dumb luck).
But being told that at least I'm not, I dunno, paralyzed or blind? Makes me more neurotic than anything, because I am reminded that that much could still happen.

That's what makes me comforted. I guess it depends on your mental influences. For me, motivation comes from assertion. "Beating shall continue until morale improves," is something my dad always said. For me, what I said is a euphemistic version of "Quit your bitching, you've got ways to go until you hit rock bottom. Now get your ass in gear before I do!" But I can understand how that makes others feel worse.
