Hot Springs Episode

IM pretty sure some ones done it already and if so can some one point me in the direction of it but... Cmon who doesnt wanna see that classic Hot Springs episode... u know the one that has the same plot in every anime yea thats the one... every one knows eva needs it and if it already doesnt have it, fat chance, some one needs to hop on pop and start making that fan fic. I for one have no real drawing/writing skills or i'd do it myself.. whose with me

The show needs a beach episode where they go to Okinawa. Wait, that's what the hot spring episode was supposed to be.

This is probably his idea of cheering them up - either that, or this trieumphant grin is meant to mock Asuka. They never got along very well...

For what it's worth, we still got to see Asuka and Rei in their swimwear, as well as a naked Misato, even if we didn't get to see her, uh, naughty bits.

I wouldn't qualify Ep. 10 as a bonified hot springs episode, because... ya know... it's EVA! It doesn't follow the same conventions 'cause Eva isn't like every other anime.

It just wouldn't fit
It would feel out of place and forced (more than hot spring episodes already feel)

I would only say that for EVA. For other animes, there could be ways to make it work. Like maybe your father owns a bath house and you take a few friends to get acquainted with your family. Something like that. Make it a part of the plot or a place where you'll have a defining character moment. There are many ways to pay with anime cliches.

There are a lot of animes where a hotsprings episode wouldn't work. Like ones where there are not even any female cast (Akagi), or the only females are dead (Red Garden), or the atmosphere/animation really just doesn't make it fit (Texhnolyze/Kaiba), or the writing/setting (Monster).

Magma Diver IS the hot springs episode. It subverts the trope. Instead of a hot spring they go to a sterile and dull looking swimming pool, probably in their school. It's a whited out dull looking environment.

They go to the hot spring at the end I guess. Anno was probably pressured into it, I'm sure.

Also, like a proper hot springs episode it sucks and is useless.

The hot spring episode in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was the best ever (the DVD version anyway). Especially because of the Asuka and Rei cameos.
