I'm watching ROD TV with a friend and just noticed something I didn't notice before. During ep12 around 9 minutes 43 seconds into it, they had one of Mr. Gentleman's books and was scanning it or something. Real quiet-like there was this beeping sound. When I heard it, I immediately recognized what it was from.

So, is this just coincidence or a TNG homage?

It's a stock sound effect. I'm sure lots of people use it.

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever heard the doorbell sound before TNG? I know it's just a soundbyte that could have easily been created with a casio keyboard, but I've never heard it outside of TNG before, except like on SNL or somewhere where they're blatantly making a reference. TNG was dubbed in Japanese and broadcasted in Japan.
