i think how much of Shinji honking his horn depends on the poeple's reaction to

1: Shinji atop of Nerkid Rei...in the first movie

and

2: Asuka's thermal expansion stuff in the second movie...they MUST leave that scene in...its important

also...they should leave in the Shinji, Asuka dance montage...seriously...its fanservice
