It has to come out this year or it will be late, so I'm not too worried. Even if it doesn't, it should be remembered that people are becoming more incompetent as the economy death spirals into oblivion so delays should be expected.

Uh...wasn't the entire series supposed to be done by 2010 at one point?
Nothing is so valuable that it need not be started afresh, nothing is so rich that it need not be enriched constantly.

No idea, I don't intimately follow the series like I once did. I was merely going by the 2 year release pattern. They do take forever, that's for sure.

With the rate they're taking their sweet time and the rate at which 2015 is fast approaching, I have a sinking suspicion that we will see Eva turn from regular SF to Alternate History before Rebuild is complete. and let's not get started on the manga.

I wouldn't jump to negative conclusions if I were you. We're far past due an update on 3.0 (we're as far removed from the previous film as 2.0 was from 1.0).

Nothing is so valuable that it need not be started afresh, nothing is so rich that it need not be enriched constantly.

Not to mention that the Rebuild haters are a vocal minority - even if you deny their higher motivations, they're still making tons of cash with it, it should be in their best interests to hurry and serve us Q to get even more cash.
