Hmm... I don't see much of an attitude in Eric's post. At least there are people sounding mean or using swear words in evageeks while his post is firm in his position but not aggressive in tone. Perhaps other people read it differently....

Anyway, as I said before, Re-Take works a lot better for LAS fans (LAS is the jargon used in Japan for Love Asuka x Shinji). All the other characters, including Rei, got short shrift in Re-Take. I admitted I was shocked to see Rei went down to the level of using paint to change her hair color, although I do not see it as entirely out of character (as Eric said, even the official/semi-official rendering of characters in Eva differ quite a bit). If I have to list the flaws in Re-Take, handling of Rei would come up top. That said, its power to resonate with my heart is what counts for me, despite the flaws.

I would like to stress that I have seen over a hundred of artists drawing Eva doujin and Kimigabuchi is near the best in rendering the Eva art style and character design like the original. He may have copied a few scene set-up from official material but the vast majority seem to be his own, a result of studying very deeply how the characters are drawn in Eva. The ease to visually associate characters in Re-Take with those in the original helps tremendously in my case to identify with its story. I think this is the power of manga, with its visual element combined with storytelling.

Ten posts, one by me, one by CrystalWolf, and thus probably four by eric and essel each, were removed. This happens quite a bit. Probably best to just read mod text and ignore anything that isn't directed at the general population or you specifically, especially if it seems to be completely out of the context of the thread.

I see. So posts do get removed promptly. I guess it is all for the best of the general readership.

How to tell whether it is a mod text, by the way?

I don't know, I think there's always the possibility that the mods intervene to often.
You can regulate a board too much, as long as people stay civil a heated discussion in itself isn't that bad.
"Asuka groaned, palming her face. "First? That's a bagel."
"You're supposed to eat it," Shinji assisted.
Rei looked at them, then back to Ikari-kun, taking in the surprising revelation. Cautiously, she placed her lips around the item in her hand and took a small bite. Wide-eyed, she beheld the bagel with a new reverence.
"You are delicious, Ikari-kun.""

I've just recently read Re-Take and must say it was a pretty good read. I do agree that Rei was under used in the story, odd considering she's probably the 2nd most important character after Shinji. It even got me interested in restarting to write a fic that kinda died on the vine. *shrugs* Anyay, it's definately(sp?) one of the better Eva based stories out there.

Probably.

Probably not; that'd most likely be Misato.

How is Misato more important to the story? To Shinji, yes, she's very important to him and in that regard no argument. But the story itself Rei is more crucial(sp?) after all without Rei AND Shinji Instrumentality would be near impossible. Misato, as much as she is a likeable character, is a non-factor.

Anno himself mentions that the main characters in Eva are supposed to be Shinji and Misato.

If that is the case, then I truly wonder why she's not more in the foreground.
I'd have guessed that after Shinji, Asuka and Rei were the main characters.

Quick question, does the All Ages version cut anything important besides the porn? I plan to read it and I'd rather check out the clean version.

Depends on what the general stance is; if you don't want to see porn or think its there just for graphic value, then no, nothing of value is lost.

If you think that the sex is actually an integral part of the story to show feelings in a more concise and less abstract way, then yes, something important is cut.

I just finished reading it. While I won't say it's a masterpiece or the worst doujinshi ever, I think it was overall enjoyable and with an interesting ending.

The way they handled Rei was pretty weird though ><

Weird? I think negative would be a better choice.

Don't man. This stuff is not your average doujin. The sex scenes are fapable times 10,000.

Hey guys, quick question, when my comp dies on me I lost the retake file I downloaded onto my comp. Where can I reupload them? Zeak's site is down and I don't know what site I can trust to download it from.

Also, when are you going to be able to rebuild your site Zeak, it was pretty sweet.

Yes, but they're hardly necessary. The All-Ages version loses nothing of substance.
