Yeah and so can snowmen, but that'd be pretty cold to be in bed with a snow man, I know I wouldnt want that!

This is a great comic, but what's interesting is that Ken'ichi Sonoda's manga CANNON GOD EXAXXION has more or less the same premise. Sonoda (an old friend of Gainax's, who did the chara designs for OTAKU NO VIDEO) disliked Shinji's attitude so much he was motivated to draw EXAXXION, which is what he would have done if his dad offered him the chance to pilot a mecha and hang around his stable (EXAXXION, of course, is also a throwback to 1970s anime, when robots were always piloted by a hotheaded delinquent).

Oh so thats where he got the idea for that, I got the first two books of this I'll have to check out the rest sometime.

I still find it surprising that people take exception to Shinji's character so much that they would actually be motivated create a web comic, or indeed and entire manga with a Shinji antithesis in the lead, or in place of Shinji. It's ironic that Shinji's passive and nonconfrontational character can still be so provocative.

Well in Eva Asuka took a very big exception to Shinji's character, since the characters in eva are modled after real life it stands to reason that people who are more like Asuka would be agitated by his sort of character.
