Well, I remember something about how viral strains are numbered and Evangelion popped into my head. As in the first strain of a virus would be 00 (like: 00-HB-504 or something similar) and then the second strain would start with 01 (like: 01-HB-507) and so on.

Viral genetic mutation and serial numbers to go along with them.

But I may be wrong. I can't find the source of this information.
