I suppose some of you know this, but in EoE right before the Rei/Lilith entity begins spurt blood, hate mail that was actually sent to Gainax flashes across the screen, you can find a translation of it here.
I find it funny that right after the words "Die Anno, die" flash across the screen, it cuts to the scene of Rei/Lilith dieing.

If the film(s) is/are a success, then assuming the catchphrase "Anta baka" (rather than "Shinji no baka," simply because it's more universal on the fly) is carried over, I can easily see it becoming another one of those annoying catchphrases like "Do I make you horny," and "Wazzaaaaap." Even in an English-language film, I don't see any reason for its total omission; it would be as though in the live action Flintstones movie, Fred never said "Yabba dabba doo." I'm surprised I haven't seen it on a T-shirt even now.

And Lillith crucifixes: ah, I can see those beauties around the neck of every pagan feminist even now. ($$$)

The thing about merchandising the movie is simply that there's already enough random tie-in shit out there based on the anime. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to have an equal amount of stuff with the tag license of a different version, especially if all the characters happen to stay the same (god-willing). Of course, if it sells, it sells, I guess. There'll be a hell of a lot of toys though, even despite the ones already out there. A Lego Eva? I wouldn't be surprised...
