Eva-02's new design in Rebuild

It's a bloody big one. Make's me wonder what could be big enough to try Grab Unit 02 around the waist like a child grabbing an Action Man. I thought it might've been Sandalphon or something, because the background looks a bit like a volcano, but the hand looks armoured...

That's because the hand is closer to the "camera" than the rest of Eva-02, Dartz. ;p The background is fiery because it looks cool.

I guess it's time to say, "Hello, CGI, goodbye hand-drawing"

Wow that thumb looks pretty neat, and the background makes it look EBIL. Reminds me of when Eva-01 went berserk, you know, dark sky, yellow-looking eyes, if they made the mouth open it would look good.

Oh god what have they done this is a disaster, i want the old body shapes back with the slim bodys and wide shoulders and can someone youtube it plz.

Now I see what that is!. Unit 01? Reaching for Unit 02 somehow while in the volcano. Heh... I assumed it was a hand wrapping around the body, since there was no shadow being cast by the hand. Such is 2d perspective I guess.

@BEsERk EVA01: Everything has been animated on computers since Fuji Film stopped making the transparent cells roughly 7-8 years ago.

The nicovideo thing I got that screenshot from isn't worth uploading to youtube, it's not the entire ad, it's just a still from the ad with comparisons of Eva-02 from the TV series, EoE, Anima, F-Type, etc.

Am I the only one who has noticed a trend towards a darker color scheme? look at the red on Unit 02 and compare it to the screens from EoE. See a difference?

Damn right, new news. Kinda like the new design but kinda don't. Give it a few months, I must get used to it.

Ah, I see. I was sort of lumping the orange of NGE Eva-02's pallet together with gold, mostly because there's never perfect consistency with these things. (For example: Pre-update Eva-00 can look more yellowish or more gold depending on what picture you look at; Eva-01's purple may be more reddish or more bluish; etc.) So you say "more gold", and I'm like, "Nuh-uh, they took it off the lower arms and the pylons, how can there be more?"

It's more or less impossible to make any real judgments on the finer aspects of WEva-02's coloration until more pictures come out. If the red of the armor still looks darker under normal daylight conditions, for example, then we know for sure.

I'm not a fan of the white on 02. I like the change in the shoulder coloration, but the white belt and stripes down the arms I could definately do without. Going for more of an even black/red mix with the occational orange/white/green highlight would be better imho.

I also think 01 had too much orange and green this time though, so I don't expect to be thrilled with the color choices.

Does she have Pokeballs on her arms?

Does that mean that other evas like 03 and 04 will have some form of horns too?

My honest opinion, people are making too many statements about proportions, when this image is at a really weird angle, and pose.

The color scheme being more "German" is interesting though.
