Just take any picture from a fansite and cut it to the right size...
More cheese means more holes.

Unless you want an animated one. Those take a little more time.

i've tried making my own avs before, but they always end up going danglers up. (this could be a mistake but......) got any......*wisper* tips?

i'm a Rei person myself; if you hadn't already noticed, so i'm wanting to try a Rei av.

Get a half-way decent paint program, and you can easily crop and resize a larger image to be avatar-sized.

For something a bit more time-consuming, you can take screenshots from a video source and put them together in a program like ImageReady to make an animated GIF. That's how I made these babies:

Alternatively, some animated GIFs can just be of static images.
