No More Cover-Up?

So, I was thinking: was Second Impact ever actually covered up and explained as a meteor impact in this continuity? I don't think it was discussed in the classroom, as that whole section during which Shinji's professor was discussing it has now been taken out. Furthermore, the whole fake documentary film Shinji was watching is now gone. Finally, it'd be rather hard to explain the red water.

Thus, I'm assuming the truth about Second Impact is common knowledge in Weva or that the cover-up involves a giant meteor made out of Kool-Aid powder.

judging from the Second Impact explosion seen in trailers for Rebuild 2.0, I think we'll get a more thorough explanation of it next time.

Come to think of it, we don't even know if it was in Antarctica this time, do we?

I suspect that was misdirection on the trailer's part

So you're saying they're abandoning the so-frequently-used element of parallelism?

I really believe that if the truth was common knowledge, it would probably cause hysteria worldwide. I think it might be that more people within NERV know more about what actually happened. As Misato actually knows about Lilith being in NERV.

If you "suspect" it, don't present it as a fact.

Also, people will start dying for nested quotes.

You can't lie to the public when the oceans are red with blood.

What if the water was already red way before the second impact? :halo:
You base your asumption on the fact that second impact turned the oceans and the moon red, but again, you have absolutely no proof yet.

In the TV series Adam turned a big chunk of the ocean around the south pole a sexy shade of pink, so it's a natural assumption that the red oceans in 1.0 were caused by the same thing. You're right though, there is no evidence yet.

Actually, water is transparent (colourless, for teh serious people).

Considering that Maya sees the sea and calls it "the blood from Second Impact", the theory of red water before S.I. is discartable for me, at least.

Although: If the oceans were ALWAYS red, then the public would naturally think that they were supposed to be red. So thus 2nd Impact could still be covered up if *CENSORED TO HASTEN DVD RELEASE* is true.
