After buying Platinum, are you keeping your older DVDs?

This is the place to start: Feel free to introduce yourself, have general conversations and casual discussions about all things Evangelion, including chit-chatty topics like "Sachiel is adorable" or "Which Eva kicks the most ass?"

She sold the whole collection for $20
I have too much anime, yet it's not enough. Anime Addict, if it were a drug; I'd be dead.

I think I prefer the inferior quality of the Perfect Collection. When you watch it, there is something mystical about its comapartive antiquity that I feel only compliments the experience of seeing "that show those people were talking about." Eva has a Ringu-like quality to it when you take it that way.

Certain audio was revamped, but other pieces were left out, or unpolished.

Are you even listening to it on a 5.1 sound system? If not, yes, it will sound funny. I know it does on my crappola speakers.

Aaron, the original Japanese release did have the jitterbugs. (I have the Newtype disc that does a split-screen comparison between pre- and post-Renewal episode #01.) It really was just as crappy as the original ADV DVDs.

On the main subject: Yes, most certainly. I am a geek and a packrat.

I might go so far as to say that when I fill up the Platinum box (well, yeah, I have to fill it up; I already started it), it may not be the one I keep. I've got a lot of bidders on my one-day spare collection.

I just picked up Vol 2 of the platinum edition.

No real surprises, cast audio commentary kicked ass like only Allison and Tiffany can. The episode 9 animatic peice was a little confusing (keyframes mixed with finished cells, and they didn't even have the montage stuff?!)

All in all, not bad.

I realize now that you really do need surround sound to fully enjoy platinum. Too bad I'm too poor to afford one T_T.

As for my orginals...I think I'll still save them, for nostalgic purposes...like the old Eva VHS tapes, or maybe some original fan subs.

Those kinda things I'd want to hang on to, that way when I'm in my sixties, I can pull them out of a dusty attic and show them to my grandkids^_^;;.

Grandpa, what's Evangelion?

It's something special that Grandpa spent half his life obcessing over like a lunitic.

Why isn't it around anymore?

Well, after Eva became its own religion and was later banned from the country we had to destroy all of our shiny platinum editions and memorobilia, but I managed to smuggle away these old 1st edition DVDs.

Grandpa, what's a DVD?

...go ask your mother, it's time for my pills damnit!

Really? Listening to two giggling fangirls for 22 minutes wasn't my idea of a great time. But dubbies will be dubbies, I guess.

Hey, I just like the english cast of Eva, that's all.

Being Canadian, I've got a huge amount of respect for our anime VAs (Scott McNeil, Brad Swaile, Kirby Morrow, pretty much anybody down working at Ocean Studios)

However, I've always found that the voice crew of Eva happen to be some of the best english VAs out there.

Mind you, that's just my preference.
