Akira this time.
http://movies.ign.com/articles/831/831318p1.html

Basically, the director's name is Ruairi Robinson
He have been nominated for the Oscar for "Fifty Percent Grey", but this his first "long movie"

Warner wants it to be made fat because of that writers sindicate strike.
---

So, basically am I gonna hear all those things from EVERY another-media adaptation to the movies?
Yep? No sign of hope?

I thought so...
I guess it's time for a decent sig right? NAHHHHHHHH

At this point, screenshots are needed to confirm this.

Otherwise, I would not put any stock in it.

Live action Akira would kinda kill it, imo. It's great as is in anime form....I don't think it needs a Live Action adaptation to it. I understand live action adaptation to anime series...but to an anime movie....that's just....no.

I am personally looking forward to it! Plus, the fact that Ruairi Robinson is Irish (as if you couldn't tell by the name) means it might raise awareness about anime and stuff over here in Ireland, where the only anime on TV is Yu-Gi-Oh and Beyblade, dubbed into Irish.

I can't think of one anime-to-live-action movie that's gone wrong, so I don't understand the negative hysteria whenever such announcements come.

They're probably gonna simplify the story to the point of stupidity.

What makes you say that? American cinema has produced the vast, vast majority of the 'best' films in terms of powerful, engaging, meaningful content in the 80 or so years cinema has been around. Japanese cinema is nothing compared to US cinema's rich history. Such concerns are baseless at the moment, I think.

Fixed.

Nah, I'm just curious to see what they come up with in these cases. Remakes can have value in the same way that covers of songs can add new value. And I don't have to pay my $5 or $10 to see it if I don't want to.

And cinema isn't worse, it's just that, like in music, we've forgotten about some of the bad stuff.

One of my friends is from Russia, and moved to the U.S. after the Soviet Union fell. He tells me that he can't understand why Americans bitch so much about how our movies are "bad." He says the acting, stories, and production values are a million times better than anything produced in eastern Europe. I guess maybe we're spoiled? He also said it was really weird watching spy movies for the first time where the communists lose. :D

-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity
