NGE2 Classified Information
A thread to address one of my personal requests: I would like my old CI translation to be ported onto its own Wiki-page. This must be done, and I would like one of the newcomers to take up the task.
Let's see a hand shoot up! Further instructions will be provided at that point.

Thy will be done.
....should this be on Wiki or FGC?
I lean towards FGC.
For you see Reichu, I already have an embryo version of this written up some time ago:

Well... Again, ambiguity. The website IS a Wiki, and, beyond the commentary being comprised of "commentary pages", there remains to be a firm delineation between that and all of the other content. There are certain types of pages that aim to be "Wikipedia"-esque in content/style, but FGP pages go beyond that in scope. (Let that be discussed in another thread, though.) The NGE2 CI translation would be grouped under "Translations" and "Third-Tier Canon", or something.
I intended to have that article, as well -- indeed. The translation would be an entirely separate page -- "NGE2_Classified_Information_(Translation)", perhaps.

Because it came straight from Anno, weren't we treating the CI as Second-Tier rather than Third-Tier?

I thought of it as ... 2 1/2...
I'll, uh, defer it to a vote or something.

Actually, since we are starting to admit some relative newbies, It would probably be wise to post the tiers of canonicity here. (They've been posted multiple times on EMF and ANF, but never here I believe.)
The rule of thumb we use here to determine canonicity is
Shin-Seiki's Tiers of Canonicity:
1. The show itself & its scripts and storyboards.
2. Statements by the show's creators, principly Anno.
3. "Official" but external sources. (Theatrical Programmes, Newtype Books, Cardass Cards, ect.)
4. The Manga. (Actually its own canonicity. Useful only to confirm points where it agrees with the Anime, it should never be used to contradict the evidence presented in the Anime.)
5. (And dead last) Statements made by the people responsible for adapting Eva for release outside of Japan, such as ADV or Manga Entertainment.
Information is canon only when it does not contradict info from a higher tier. Lower tiers should also be treated with somewhat more skepticism than higher tiers.

I just realized I left something important out of tier 1:
1. The show itself & its scripts and storyboards. The director's cuts are the finished or official version, taking precedence over the on air versions in the event of any theoretical discrepency.

The Tiers of Canonicity desperately needs a home on the site somewhere. Maybe there should just be an article on Canon(icity) in general. Is that something you could handle, Wayne?

I'll give it a shot. It shouldn't be too difficult to come up with a few examples for each tier.

Mission accomplished. I linked to the article in the "some pages" section at the bottom of the main page.

My insomnia-inspired port of the CI translation inspires the question -- what if we want nice, big headings, but we don't want them to be counted into the Table of Contents? (The A,B,C,D stuff.) Holy shee-yat, that thing got LOOOONG.
And, damn, I am not looking forward to revising this thing. At. All.

I'd recommend making a bulleted list and bolding the entries.
I will do this myself tonight when I get home.

Bolding did the trick. Thanks.
Now everybody can cite the CI locally when infos from it is mentioned in articles. Isn't that nifty?
